Audio Hardware Deals: Speakers, Headphones, Turntables, Etc.

Decent price on this.
I really want to get an ultrasonic cleaner, I've seen this one before, has gotten decent reviews. Debating on this and the Humminguru, and checking out their newest version. Quite the spread in price across the 3 as well.

Just do the Humminguru. Your time and energy are valuable and the set-it-and-forget-it ethos of the Guru has made cleaning records so much less of a hassle, at least for me. Even if it's the Gen 1 Guru I think you'd enjoy the results.

I second this @AnthonyI—no need for drying rack. Small footprint. Light weight, set and forget. The exact opposite of my VPI vacuum

I'm in favor of this too. I know some others have tried these industrial modded ones and I'm sure they do the trick well enough, but the HG is less work. I don't regret going with it over something like this. But, if I was on a tighter budget then I think I'd have given this a go. It's going to save more time and do better than a spin clean for hardly any more money.

I like my VPI, the ultrasonic is coming into play for some older records that need that deep clean, I don't know if one replaces the other, but I've also not owned one, but here nothing but good things about the Guru

Well, some people have had trouble with it's longevity, but at a cost per clean ratio, even if it fails at 1000 cleaned, I don't think it's bad.

Plus replacing parts doesn't look as terrible as it could, just long wait times and high shipping costs on spares

It looks like they've made some meaningful improvements with the new model, but it also comes with a nice price jump.

Tbf those of us who have had to change parts have for the most part absolutely flogged the thing. I think most people who have been a bit more measured and circumspect have had less issues. Also it’s very modular so replacing parts has been surprisingly easy.

I think I’ve touched my VPI once since buying the HG. I’ve only used it on a few filthy flea market finds since the HG came into play.

Why would you need another cleaner for
“Dirtier” records? Unless you are remediating mold, what benefit is there to using a squeaky clean or VPI before the HG? Is it about preserving water or filters or supplies or is there a concern that excess gunk might mess up the machine?

Presumably cleaning the filthiest filth to avoid the ultrasonic "bath" getting too grimy?

I actually found that just doing a few wash only cycles on the HumminGuru before then doing the clean and dry cycle really clears even the dirtiest find, especially since I’ve started using the fluid with it.

Basically. Just to remove the most obvious surface grime and then use the Humminguru to deep-clean the grooves.

Same. For dirty used finds I usually just run a 5 minute wash and then a 5 minute full auto cycle.
