As a former die-hard Yankee fan to now only “checks the standings and watches them in the post-season” Yankee fan, they’re absolutely terrible. Boone needs to go because they’re going to get swept.

The NY bats have been terrible, but Houston has been dishing out some elite pitching. Javier is very underrated.

All of that said, I have been very unimpressed with Boone when watching the Yankees - which is generally only in the playoffs. Unless he is a top shelf culture/chemistry guy - and it sure doesn't seem like it - not sure why he has the job.

Remember before the all star break when they seemed inevitable? Wild how much has changed.
Joey Gallo was non-ironically holding the team together.

He makes the worst bullpen decision every time. Doesn’t know how to set up a lineup to save his life.

This is going to sound harsh, and some of these are debatable, but Yankees have always been a home for “has-beens”. Players like Donaldson, Carpenter, Matt Holiday, Ichiro, Beltran, Chase Headley, Brian Roberts, Vernon Wells, Lyle Overbay, Travis Hafner, etc. Most of these guys performed well with other teams and then at the end of their career, when no one really wants to pay them a bigger salary, Yankees decide to take them on for a season or two to fill a hole in the roster. Sometimes it works out, but most of the time it doesn’t. I’d rather they give the opportunity to a young up and coming player rather than someone who’s washed.

Agreed. It seems as though Boone rolls a six-sided die (with six different names) to decide which relief pitcher to bring in to high leverage spots. And he always has a quick excuse for why it didn't work out. The act has gotten old.

I’ve probably watched 140+ Yankee games this year, and don’t really have a strong opinion on Boone either way. They way overperformed in the first half. Injuries and regression over corrected in the second half. Injuries to the bullpen have pretty much fucked them. When Wandy Peralta is your most reliable arm out of the bullpen, I can’t really blame Boone for that.

Starting pitching has been good all year. The whole lineup other than Judge has been too streaky all year. One thing I’ll legitimately criticize Boone for is the running game. Again, they overperformed stealing bases and being aggressive on the basepaths in the first half, and have been pretty terrible picking their spots to run ever since. They haven’t adjusted and they’ve run themselves out of innings.

All that being said, the Astros pitching is lights out, starters & bullpen. I hate them and hope the Phillies stay hot and kick their ass.
