New Year's Eve, 1964. Arkestra mainstay John Gilmore is off playing Sax for Paul Bley, Andrew Hill and Art Blakey; his seat is briefly taken by young Ferrell Lee Sanders, whom Sun Ra encourages to use the name Pharoah. Shortly after Gilmore would return to the Arkestra and Pharoah's star would shine bright while playing with John Coltrane before going stratospheric in his solo career after Trane's passing.

While looking through stuff last night, I realized that I now have a dvd of the show I had on bootleg. The Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe came with a DVD of the Paisley Park show from December 31, 1987. This is the show that Miles Davis shows up at. I have a cd bootleg but why not watch it?

Expert: Play an album by a musician from a Red state who Republicans tried to cancel for not supporting their politics (Taylor Swift does not count ).

Pretty easy to find a Blue State musician drawing Republican ire. More difficult to find a Red State artist in the crosshairs.

Steve Earle is mostly associated with Texas and Tennessee. Both states are Red, and he's caught consistent heat from the right.
