Definitive Audiophile pressings

Another Record City order has arrived, and I continue to be impressed both by how clean these records are and how great they sound. The Coltrane is a 1977 King Record Co. stereo release that I look forward to comparing to the new stereo reissue that should arrive soon. The King sounds fantastic. Abbey Road is a 1976 reissue with a misprint on the jacket (song titles out of order), and has beautiful separation and clarity. I haven't listened to the Bowie yet, but both other jazz records also sound quite good. Damn, what a reinforcing habit!

EDIT: The Bowie sounds great also. The music seems like it's destined to have its high end fall apart on playback, but that never happens, and Bowie's voice is crystal clear throughout. Impressive.

That Mobley is a real burner! Really underrated imo.

Agreed. I'd never heard of it and am surprised it doesn't get more attention. The Pepper Adams/Donald Byrd title also is pretty sweet, with some great playing by Herbie Hancock on piano.

I have that Abbey Road and I had another from an earlier press. Both sounded pretty good, but I haven't lucked out finding a clean copy.

How's yours?

Tina’d, along with The Ramones s/t.

Anyone get a shipping notification from Acoustic Sounds where it lists the shipping method as "Outside Shipper"?
If so, what does this mean? No tracking number provided. Am I to guess it's Fed-Ex?

I was just going to post this. I’ve still been struggling with the MoFi issue but if I didn’t already have this I think I may have grabbed one. Great price.

On a side note Plaidroom got in undamaged 195 copies of Eagles - On the Border last week (if my add a bunch to cart was accurate) and likewise they still have 173 at present. So, this may be a new trend of wait for overstock sale on MoFi One-Steps.

Minor caution bc, on Discogs, there are claims of quality problems on the Muddy Waters. Not everyone. Plenty saying it’s fantastic.

Considered getting this, but decided on Hotel California

Waiting for that one too, hoping it'll be released towards the end of the year.

Yes I still have Hotel Cal for sure, the 1st Van Halen, and a few of the Miles titles. Canceled a bunch. I know they will sound good but the thrill is gone at the moment. :-(. I may still cancel a couple more MiFi Miles.

On the plus side I grabbed the US ‘78 sealed used Rush Hemispheres from Plaidroom’s used recs tonight. I’ve been looking for a nice condition used Hemispheres for quite awhile so I’m looking forward to spinning that one. 😊

I still have Bitches Brew ordered. I forget what other Miles albums were offered. Hemispheres is such a great album!

I'm in the same boat. Saw that sealed copy this afternoon, then poof...gone. Ha ha.

Sir, you are in the wrong thread!

But for real, the AP is great. At the price point, it's diminishing returns and a more shelf-hungry packaging. In fact, at MSRP and size-considerations, I'd choose the AP without even hearing the comp if I had no copies and wanted to get one.
You're correct.
This is the definitive mofi thread!
