if you sell it, you'll be half way to getting the UHQR!Damn, I've got it listed for $85 shipped in the Buy, Sell, Trade thread.

It's a vibe that's created by those Record City stickers sitting under the turntable. Most of you know my feelings on country music, but I ordered that Randy Travis mofi because I'd never listened to it and thought it would be a good gift for my brother-in-law if I thought it was terrible because he loves terrible music. I streamed the first couple tracks after ordering it and predictably thought it was terrible, even worse than expected. But... It showed up about 15 minutes ago and it's a completely different listening experience than streaming. I'm shockingly impressed and am disturbed by how much I'm enjoying it, like it's shameful to like this, but, damn, it's a hell of a listen.

That's Chad for ya - his favorites are the top sellers of all time. Quite a wide range of tastes there. It's all about the money. In the video that came out today with Chad talking about the Steely Dan UHQR he specifically mentions his other favorite rock bands - Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Beatles. Based on that alone I donāt think itās unreasonable to expect at least one of those bands, if not all three, to make an appearance on UHQR.
Also, if Bob Marley and Jethro Tull are for sure to be next, it doesnāt necessarily mean they will be next in catalog sequence.
I think you are mistaking this forum for the Hoffman forum. I don't see ad nauseum debating here. The minority within a minority are the folks like us debating this stuff ad nauseam in online forums.
As I said before, if history is any indicator these titles will all sell out eventually, and if they donāt AP/AS like has contingency plans to deal with potential overstock.

Every retailer has 'contingency plans' - dump them on the market at deep discount prices.
I don't think our axe nub can handle link sharing over here. Your best bet is to just go buy them at retail. If you find AP titles at reduced prices, please be sure to share the links here.

Nail, meet hammer. Some people will grind an axe to a nub and still think they have a useful tool.
Chadās primary interest is charging the consumer as much as he can get away with. Case in point: charging $900 for Bill Evans Riverside RecordingsThose are my favorite rock bands as well. Do I love them just for the money?
Chad has been at the forefront of reissuing jazz, blues, vocals, and classical for quite a while. His tastes are quite broad, and heās never been shy about the fact that he reissues what he likes.

Yep. He's a businessman first and a music enthusiast second nowadays. He'll raise the price on the last copies of AP pressings and point to discogs and ebay sale prices as the impetus to do so.Chadās primary interest is charging the consumer as much as he can get away with. Couldn't agree more. Chad is no philantropist. He is straight up gouging and making it out to be a great service he is doing while fucking people over.
It's easy for me. Ignore these. Just don't buy them. Say no. Have self-control. Let them sit on his shelves. Buy what will surely be fantastic hi-res digital downloads of each for $25. Enjoy the music. Sit it out.
Then Chad will learn the only way he can learn - that people won't buy a thrill for $150.
And he will have to revert to putting out these types of titles at 33rpm for $35, like the overwhelming majority of people want.
Yea--Sony seems to be sending tapes dubbed by Mark Wilder to reissue labels for certain titles if requested, not original tapes. That's what Speakers Corner has said recently at least. Chad has also had a few titles with the 100% analogue stickers plastered all over them only to later admit they weren't from tapes at all.Could not agree more here and thank you for posting this. I would be tempted at a reasonable price point but forget it. I'll get the digital vinyl and enjoy my well worn copies all the same. Plus my multiple CD copies and the Citizen Steely Dan box. Enough already.
I have it on good authority that the licensing fees that he had to pay is in the millions so you know, he has to "make back his investment" by gouging the suckers. Plus, I've said it before, I don't trust Chad's claims about "original analog tapes". Just look at the Jeff Beck titles which are from Sony who hasn't been sending off tapes for many many years.

You know, a good copy tape can be an excellent substitute for the original. back in the day, you were probably getting a second, third or more gen tape copy for that OG you bought in many cases.Yea--Sony seems to be sending tapes dubbed by Mark Wilder to reissue labels for certain titles if requested, not original tapes. And Chad's bullshit about the Dan not having good reissues out there is just that. Bullshit. The Impex Aja is awesome, the SC Can't buy A Thrill is as well. And IMO the MOFi katy Lied is sublime.
You are correct, crying about Chads pricing wonāt solve anythingā¦.. however, sometimes it makes you feel better to say Chad is a greedy money hungry fucker trying to squeeze every nickel he can out of us for digiā¦. I mean AAA records.Heās not running a charity. We are free to buy CDs or cheap reissues if the cost of his vinyl is so offensive.
If anyone has a problem with a $900 boxset, vote with your wallet and donāt buy it.
Crying about capitalism isnāt going to solve anything.
