Definitive Audiophile pressings

and for me. I was busy and missed all the fun.
Right?! I'm late to the party so I don't know the context but I am interested in the contest.

Also does entry include gear or do we need to bring our own? Now, I feel more comfortable using my own, but clean up in a pain is the ass (pun intended) so I don't mind loaner gear.
Wish I had taken a screenshot. It was delightful. 🤣

I seem to remember upscale Doobies but that was a few moons ago.

How is the Animals remix, damnit?
That's how I remember it too I guess. I'm lucky to remember anything from those times.

The PF remix - good, very good, but different. I'm not sure that the vinyl offers much other than tangibilty over the fine 24/192 download, which must be the digital cutting master.

Still, my Japanese OG has charms that cannot be displaced.

This is the only BG remaster that I currently have after upgrading all the other ones, I was waiting on this remix to decide between it and a JP OG...
From what I've read and from what y'all have said, I may just go JP OG. Partially for pressing quality, and partially because a NM JP with Obi automatically sounds better to my brain because it's 40+ years old, looks delightful and has a super cool Obi and I AM A BIG FAN OF THESE KINDS OF SUPERFLUOUS THINGS WHETHER THEY MATTER OR NOT

(they generally do not matter)

Half way through side two of the mono and I’m basically in tears. It’s so beautiful.

This is one of those touchstone albums for me. KOB was what got me into Jazz in high school. I heard this in college and the saxophone wasn’t a harsh weapon to my ear anymore.

I’ve certainly never heard it sound anywhere near this good (full disclosure, never heard an AP or and srx but can’t imagine either adding much)

It’s got an impressive stage, it’s dynamic, the pressing is flat and quiet. It’s everything you could want.

I’ll be back in a bit for the stereo.

That's so great to hear! I ordered mine from Blue Note and I have shipping notice but it still says in "Pre-shipment".

Can't wait to get my hands on it!

I hope the stereo sounds great too. I only ordered the mono, as I have the AP stereo SACD, but it sounds like you are really enjoying yourself and that is awesome. If we can get some pics that'd probably be helpful...of you ugly crying; not the record, I know what a record looks like.

Bad news, my tinnitus is acting up (younguns use ear plugs) about half way through the track Blue Train so I don’t think this listening session is gonna be definitive. Before the ringing started, I would have give the edge to the mono. I do like the stereo though, the channel separation adds a playfulness that is missing from the mono.

Gah! I hate having tinnitus. Saw lots of great shows in my youth but I have been paying for it for years

Just saw this decent mark down for the deluxe. I'm interested in hearing that Blu-ray. I spun the LP again this morning and enjoyed it more than my cursory listen yesterday. But I agree that it probably isn't going to sound any better on wax then digital in this case. The JP OG would be my choice over this, but the different mix is fun to change it up a bit too.
