Definitive Audiophile pressings

One of my new year vinyl resolutions was to quit VMP and roll that money into great pressings of classic albums. Last night I ordered the AP 45RPM of LA Woman and 45RPM Rumours from Plaid Room. Shipped today, excited to hear both.
I don’t have the 45RPM Fleetwood Mac Rumours but I do have the 33RPM Kevin Gray pressing and it sounds amazing! So I can’t imagine how incredible the 45RPM will sound! 😍😍😍

I have that L.A. Woman pressing and I absolutely love it! I love how much Mather loves that album and pressing too! I’ve also got the 45RPM Analogue Productions (AP) pressing for The Doors’ Strange Days which sound amazing too! I plan on picking up the AP 45RPM pressing for The Doors’ self-titled too, especially as it’s back in stock at Acoustic Sounds!

How does everyone feel about the AP 45RPM pressing for The Doors self-titled! Even though it apparently doesn’t sound as great as the AP pressing for L.A. Woman, I’ve heard it still sounds amazing! What do you think of The Doors’ self-titled AP pressing @Mather ? Do you love it?

It sounds good but it's by far the least impressive of the 4 Doors AP 45s that I own. Apparently it's from a B master or something of the sort. It's much more flat, but from what I've heard it's still better that pretty much anything other than an OG, but Morrison Hotel and LA Woman absolutely kill it. With Strange Days coming next. SD is a lot more thin and tinny than LAW and MH, but again from what I've read that's just what the OG mixing sounds like, so they kept it in line with that. Again, just what I've come across online about it...

But in terms of the self titled it's really not too special, honestly.

It's probably the best version you can conceivably buy right now a clean copy of, except maybe the DCC version which is supposed to be the tops ever for that album. I would still recommend the Doors s/t AP 45 if you want a great sounding copy. Not as good SQ as Morrison Hotel or LA Woman, but then again it wasn't recorded as well as those either.

I had the 33, swapped it for the 45. The 33 is good, the 45 is special, really really special. Man does Mick and John’s rhythm section rock on it...

I just got a copy of the Rumours 45 today. Just listening to it now. I haven't listened to this album for a few decades, I wasn't sure that I would like it anymore. I'm so glad I picked this up, love it. Sounds great.

Why can't they all be done like this. The records are flawless (Pallas is the best), and the packaging is perfect, lovely gatefold.

edit - the AP LA Woman is also on my want list. Weirdly it's one of the reasons I've stuck with VMP, I was hoping they would have it back their store at some point. I'll probably have to give up on that & pick up a copy from somewhere else.
I grabbed this copy of Rumours recently as well and it really does sound fantastic. Unfortunately both of my discs are really badly off-centre. And it wasn’t that long ago that I was touting Pallas as the best plant in existence. Even they can’t be perfect I guess.

This is dangerous information. Especially for someone who almost named his daughter Stevie.

I was lucky in that Amazon seemed to randomly get a batch that they were selling for $24.99 a couple of years back. Even with the import fees and postage it worked out as about €40 for me so delighted, especially as the EU 45 is nowhere near as highly regarded, for some reason they didn’t share the lacquers/plating and it was in house mastered by optimal...
