Definitive Audiophile pressings

Listening to my copy of Handsome Family - Singing Bones and it's incredible! I have the black vinyl from 2014 but the green vinyl 2016 is cheap and readily available on their website! (Same mastering & pressing plant)

Pressed at RTI, Mastered at SAE. I've been on a run lately listening to lots of vinyl and this one stood out instantly as just have an amazing sound to it. Definitely recommend if you want some great alt country! My black vinyl press has some noise leading into the A side so I might even pick up the green varient on the site and see if that issue is solved!

Just received my ROG Superfly! Will be back during the next few days with a comparison to my original 1972 press (which is pretty noisy but I can still compare the mastering).

EDIT: A couple quick points for now. The album is housed in a very nice tip-on gatefold jacket. ROG shipped with the records outside the sleeves, in between the two panels of the gatefold and within the resealable outer. Perfect! Kudos to them. One slight knock is that the sleeve is not die-cut like the original. But I guess that's the compromise to having a full tip-on gatefold for the two records, instead of a non-tip-on single pocket with the die-cut front.

I'm absolutely not buying the UHQR KOB 45 but I'm seeing it pop up in kinda large quantities up here and I don't recall ever actually seeing any reviews about it vs the 33. Did everyone just throw their hands up in the air and walk away before this even got released?

This is what I know. The track Green in Blue is known to have distortion issues on the 33 pressing, my copy included. The 45 version is clean. That alone would steer me to the 45.

I really should write Acoustic Sounds and see if they'll replace my 33 disc, but I bought this release when it first dropped and I'm thinking they'll deny me and say it's far too late for replacements.

I don’t have it, but am very interested. From what I’ve read it’s pure bliss and the pressing is fantastic, whereas the 33 was a QC nightmare…….apparently. What sort of pricing are you seeing over there?

Mainly $250 CAD. About what I'd generally expect, the One Steps tend to price out about the same from the same shops.

Oh whaaaaaaaat? The one steps are usually $175 in my local shops. This one in particular retails at $150 US as opposed $125 like the one steps, so that price doesn’t seem too crazy for this release but charging $250 for a mofi one step is highway robbery.

I just checked and the One Steps are $200 locally. So I'm a little off but either way, let's be honest, it's all highway robbery.

That Little Feat is worth it for the song Willin' alone. Incredible SQ.
I love the album but it is a little different than the Little Feat albums that came after. The version of Willin on the self titled is by far my least favorite. I would pick this up if I didn’t just buy a WLP of the album a couple months ago that sounds great. All their albums sound amazing actually and original pressings or early reissues can be had for cheap! Such an underrated band.

I get that. It's a very spare, very brief, stark and simple version of the song. Just two instruments (acoustic guitar and what sounds like a pedal-steel guitar) as far as I can tell. No harmonies, no delays in delivery of the 'weed, whites and wine' portion of the chorus. Very different from subsequent versions. But man, listening to the MoFi, that performance is happening in my room and I think the fact it's so different from other versions, and so spare, is what excited me about it. Plays sorta like a demo that just happened to be recorded incredibly well.

i haven't heard the 45, but from what i have seen, most people seem to say that it's a minimal upgrade from the 33 (and was 1.5x the MSRP). i got a clean 33 so didn't bother to go for the 45 since i strongly prefer the 33 format. was very happy with the 33 though.
They’re both pretty awesome. The 45 is just a bit more awesome. If you don’t own either and the album isn’t a big deal to you then the 33 is great. It’s one of my desert island albums so I had to get the 45. I’ll probably be selling my 33.
