Definitive Audiophile pressings

I guess I am an outlier. I love Beck's earlier stuff. Sea Change is fantastic but also a huge bummer. I need to be in a bit of sad bastard mood to give it a spin. His run from Mellow Gold thru Midnight Vultures is brilliant in my opinion. I also quite enjoyed Guero but beyond that I can take or leave it. Most of his later albums are alright but nothing that he hadn’t already done better earlier in his career.

Odelay was the jam when it came out, was probably in my top ten of the decade when the year 2000 hit, I just never listen to it…it either hasn’t held up as well, or I‘ve overplayed it. Guero was good too, but I always thought of it as a lesser Odelay, and I did like Sea Change a bit, it’s just really depressing. Right now, I’d say Mutations might be my favorite, but I don’t like it enough to get it on vinyl.

I've got this one, seems that the first press Artisans are the best, lots of different plants used and everyone has their own take on which is the best, Mine sounds very good, that "Vibe" is the thing, It's obviously not a well recorded album but this thing sucks you in with the feel and immediacy , a mate bought the 1/2 speed remaster over a couple of years ago and while it sounded maybe a bit cleaner it just didn't have the same atmosphere that this has, Crank it Baby !!
And what's the prevailing thought on Exile? Best press?

I got this version of Sea Change in late 2019 at Barnes & Noble on clearance, paid $13. Sounds great, can't imagine the Mofi would improve much.

I have this and I have the MoFi SACD rip. The MoFi mastering is even better if you can believe it…

SACD is another level, innit?
Yea--but my point is that MoFi's mastering is different to the Pallas. I know the SACD will be different to the vinyl but I have a vinyl rip of the MoFi and my friend has the MoFi vinyl so I've heard that in person as well (but it's been awhile). I heard more details in the MoFi version compared to the Pallas. Haven't seen if Sea Change is DSD or AAA. Is it worth the price difference? probably not at all. But I still wouldn't hesitate to get the MoFi if I could find a trade or a "good" price on it.
