i got both the recent Joni box sets in the Target sales. quality is super nice, they sound great and both boxes combined were less than the price of a single one step haha. curiosity will likely get the better of me and i'll probably get either Court and Spark or Blue as a one step...but those BG cuts and the box sets are really great value especially on sale.
I like Joni but never really got into her outside of Blue, so the box sets on sale were a great way for me to give a bunch of her albums a shot. The cuts are all really nicely done. Looked up my orders and the first box was $56 shipped and Asylum box was $70 shipped from Target.

Have you heard anything about the Velvet Underground Loaded SYEOR release? I went ahead and ordered a copy from my local but haven’t seen anything regarding if it’s a new cut or any other details?
haven't seen anything yet but will let you know if i see anything--i'm most curious about that and Curtis Live.
That’s the one VU I need so I’m hopeful it is decent
I have a 2008 Rhino/Scorpio reissue I picked up new back in 2008 when I first started collection it was pressed at Rainbo and while it’s not unlistenable when compared to my VU mono collection, it could sound a bit better. I am betting the new version will sound better as most of the recent Rhino releases I’ve added have sounded really good [knocks on wood].
I am waiting on this one as well. It’s one of my favorite albums of all-time. I have an original press, which sounds great for what it is, but I’d love to hear a solid reissue done right.

I had this one and it was good, but a bit harsh on the vocals when compared with the original. Original had more low end, which I think is brilliant on this album.i picked this one up last year:

yea--don't know that there will ever be "audiophile" quality. i was surprisingly happy with the miles half speeds too for some of the other albums for the $20 i paid for each.I had this one and it was good, but a bit harsh on the vocals when compared with the original. Then again, we’re talking about the VU which wasn’t necessarily known for making audiophile records!
It’s just too much all around. I read in that massive Washington Post article a little while back that the demand for vinyl is roughly twice what current worldwide production is able to supply, and oftentimes that’s presses running to full max capacity. There’s just bound to be QC issues at this clip.

TBH, it took me like 5 attempts to find the 2009 Kevin Grey cut HQ180 RTI pressed of Alien Lanes. Lots of mislabeled listings on Discogs. I think I am good now.
