So I've done a bit of a shoot out:
edit -
@Mather the results:
UK Legacy
1972 UK first press of Low - This was picked up for £3.99 for Oxfam (a UK charity shop), many years ago.
1982 Japanes pressing of Ziggy
1st up, the Legacy - sounds clean, flat records, no pops. Not very exciting really is my summary
Low - This copy needs another clean, it's quite beat up, lot's of pops, sound and vision has slightly more tone than the legacy version. Better than the legacy, but I need another copy
Ziggy - Wow, this is night and day, I'm listening to it again now & it sounds fantastic (I don't have the 2016 reissue to compare, that may be better). This has so much depth, funk, lovely pitch & energy. David's voice sounds full & exciting. Listening to the legacy edition, it's just so dull in comparison, it's like he is bored. It's flat, sounds like it's being played behind a curtain, you are missing so much of the sound on the legacy edition.
Just don't bother with the Legacy edition, it must be why I haven't listed to it since I bought it, it's just really dull.
