Definitive Audiophile pressings

I love the Speakers Corner pressing for Transformer and love the album too! It’s favourite Speakers Corner pressing I have, along with Bill Withers’ Just As I Am and Earth Wind & Fire’s Spirit! 🔥🔥🔥

Patti Smith’s Horses is another fantastic press by them and that’s one brilliant album. I have the Donny Hathaway on order at jpc so fingers crossed they’ll get one out to me soon!

That Patti Smith is next on my list from Speaker's Corner. Love their Donny Hathaway.
Looking at cogs the only 2 recentish were a MOV in 2012 and before that a 🤮🤮🤮 4 men with beards 🤮🤮🤮

Exactly what I saw too.... :(

(you should have a couple extra barfers next to the 4MWB)

The Donny Hathaway Speakers Corner sounds amazing as does that Patti Smith of course too! I also really like Harry Nilsson’s Aerial Ballet! The Speakers Corner pressing for that one sounds superb! 🎯

Probably the absolute best sounding Speakers Corner pressing I have though is Carla Thomas’ The Queen Alone! That pressing sounds dynamic, fresh and vibrant and the Carla’s vocals are just stunning! Love spinning that one too! Might spin that one tonight after work actually! ❤️

The Music On Vinyl pressing for Still Bill sounds very clean and detailed @Turbo, but like @Mather points out, it’s not as dynamic and doesn’t have that air/open soundstage to it, like the Speakers Corner Just As I Am has! I still recommend it because it’s still a pretty great pressing! It’s got like no surface noise too which is a bonus! I really want that album to get the 2LP 45RPM MoFi or Analogue Productions treatment though!

Yeah same with the Dusty in Memphis I had. Sounded like listening to it in the car on an LW radio station!

I think at least one 4MWB mistake happens to us all, it’s a vinyl collection right of passage!
Like the Aretha Franklin I Never Loved A Man The Way I Loved You 4MWB pressing sounded great! But I think that was a one-off thing they did to try and make a strong impression. The Maggot Brain I had sounded so freaking bad; worst than streaming! And I remember having another album by them, and it was also a trash pressing! 🗑👎

But yeah, we’ve all done that mistake once! 🍻

I only say that because I still am very much a jazz, hip-hop, roots, reggae, R&B/Soul, disco, funk and neo-soul. I’m still warming up to rock, especially glam rock! I am also warming up to electronic and art-pop and indie, but punk and rock is taking me more time to warm up to! :)

Jobriath is way sexxxors i think you'd dig! 🥰🦁🐆🤖🐵🐒🐯😇😅

My JPC order just shipped with some SC albums (I think we ordered the same day if I remember correctly). Hope yours gets to ya soon.

@NathanRicaud agree with you that the Withers Just As I Am SC pressing sounds awesome.

Yep, I have a Big Star #1 4MWB on the PIF list I'm putting together... There's a dreadful 4MWB Aretha Now in my boxes somewhere too. Took me two records to learn. I'm slow, but I guess not that slow.
