Definitive Audiophile pressings

Haha yeah it’s a Porky cut Stiff. Wish they weren’t so expensive for everyone else’s sake.

I was holding out for an original copy of Damned, Damned, Damned before I got the KG reissue, but never saw one worth buying. I picked this one up new at a store south of here well after it was OOP.

The going price on Discogs doesn't seem to correlate with recent prices it has sold for.

But I have UK releases of the other albums....my Machine Gun Etiquette is a later 80's UK reissue (but pressed/cut in Germany)

If you want to know about Lou Reed though the man you have to ask is @Yer Ol' Uncle D

My top Lou records would be...

Rock N Roll Animal - What a beautiful beast. You can also throw Live in there as a companion piece. Not as strong as RNRA but from the same tour with the same incredible band.

New York - Lou was New York.

The Blue Mask - The best of the Robert Quine era records. New Sensations a runner-up.

Berlin - Hide all the sharp objects before playing. A beautiful record dealing with the darkest of emotions.

Transformer - Really Lou's first solo record although it was his second release.

Ecstasy - A sorely underrated record. The RSD release from a couple years ago can still be had on the cheap and it sounds fantastic.

Street Hassle - Punk, jazz, chamber music - it's all there.

Agree on Ecstasy. Don’t forget Coney Island Baby.

None are forgotten, just had to stop somewhere.

When I got the Arista box set that's all Lou's personally overseen remasters, Coney Island Baby was probably the greatest revelation and the record that got the most benefit from Lou's tweaking. Sounds incredible.

If the Target 2 for 1 rolls back around you can get that 6LP Arista box for about $65.

I had this one in my cart last time but I already have Transformer Speakers Corner and an old pressing of Rock N Roll Animal so I ended up passing. It’s still kinda tempting but...

looks like feb 9 was a buy 2 sale last year. Hoping that’s the case again this year!

Yeah - I already had every vinyl LP available in the Lou catalog but I bought it anyway.

As my wife says, "It's not about what I spent, it's what I saved." She's got a point.

First time I heard the song Coney Island Baby, which was on the radio a few years back, I had to have that album. Something about that song really captures Lou for me.

I always laugh at how good the original pressing of New York sounds on vinyl despite it being about an hour long. DMM at Masterdisk, Bob Ludwig mastered.

It feels so freaking good to come home after a long, hard day of heavy lifting at work to this album! Instantly feel comforted, happy and relaxed! ❤️

I’ve got Albert King’s masterpiece lined up next after the Lou Reed! Another Speakers Corner pressing I cherish too, and am already looking forward to spinning it for some lively, feel good vibes! 🥳
