Definitive Audiophile pressings

I have Sons of Kemet, We Out Here, Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes and a few of the Kamaal Williams... I'm very much enjoying this London jazz I'm hearing. So question for you: if I were to pick up a UK jazz record that has a superb-sounding pressing, which would you recommend? I've looked to get Theon Cross and Moses Boyd for example - how are the pressings for those?

the VMP and I’m assuming standard US versions of A comet is coming’s Trust, sounds great. They are both done by Bernie Grundman, way better than the UK pressing.

Speaking of Intervention, the highly regarded Matthew Sweet Girlfriend 2LP is getting a repress. Currently up for pre order on the Intervention website. Due to ship in March.

Oooooh. I might have to upgrade my copy then...

I do have The Church on pre-order from them.

I'm not entirely sure about the music on the intervention releases, tbh just haven't listened to any of the bands/musicians really. I did get the Joan Armatrading though and it is phenomenal. It is one of the best sounding records I have. I keep meaning to stream some Joe Brown & Julie Sidil, see if I like the music.

Yea--their curation isn't really my cup of tea. Looking at their list, the Flying Burrito Bros might be the only one I'd pick up but it's not very high on my list.

I feel the same, but I am glad I got that one, it is a really great pressing.

@Rowan you weren't joking about this Lou Reed New York packaging...hah. Just got it and it's horribly designed. I'll probably just store the albums outside of the box in some generic sleeves at this point...
It's nuts isn't it. I have to go to the kitchen table to open the thing as I don't have a large enough flat surface in the room that has the record player in. Seriously... There is no way that Sire hasnt put that together for their own amusement. Some fucker is still sitting in a dark corner over there laughing his head of at the thought of poor bastards like us trying to untangle that fucker 😂

Has this little gem come up on here before?

It doesn't only sound amazing, it's a great late 70's new wave album as well. Anyway, Intervention Records, AAA, Kevin Gray master, pressed at RTI, tip-on jacket...

Very nice. I love Intervention's releases. I'm a big Matthew Sweet fan, and when they re-released his trio of big albums, wow. Just floored me! I've since picked up the two Flying Burrito Bros records they did, also total home runs.
