I'm not seeing Amazon links again
Lucky! I think mine arrived in a gigantic box with some paper towels thrown inside of it for padding hahah Somehow still arrived safe and sound.
If I was a betting man I woulda bet that you already had a pretty decent copy of this, but ya never know.Thanks....but I'm not sure anything can beat my Robert Ludwig original pressing.
Sadly, while Rhino puts out pretty good product, you never really know what the details are until someone gets an eye on the deadwax. They are really bad at saying who mastered things. Hoping it's a KG or Bellman cut though. BG/CB seem to be doing a lot of the Rhino stuff as of late. Are there any pressing or mastering details for that new pressing of The Nightfly yet? I know Rhino usually put out a pretty good product...
What's the point of having a boxset if you don't pull it out and look at it every once in a while?

The first time I just put the box almost directly in the bin though was the VMP Blue Note anthology. It was liberating. All the good stuff is on the inside which I pull out to look at! The box is just...a box!
I’m in the same boat as you...the One Steps I have are taken out of the box and filed in my regular stacks with their sleeves because I simply listen to them more than way. I’m moving soon so will redo my storage and listening area, so maybe that will change how I feel about certain boxes... but the fiddly boxes do make me listen to the music less sometimes. I spend a lot of my time listening in my home office at the moment just because of how our apartment is set up so I usually grab a record off the shelves and throw it on while I’m working or doing something else. I know it’s flat out ridiculous since by nature, vinyl listening is anything but convenient...The first time I just put the box almost directly in the bin though was the VMP Blue Note anthology. Since then, I've kept some others (Chet Baker, Police, Nat King Cole, Mingus, etc) that seem to add artistic value/good design and have thrown away the ones that just felt like shipping material (Aretha). Where I stuggle are the good looking boxes (Coltrane, Sonny Rollins) that reduce the number of times I play the record because they are "fiddly." I then find myself doing the truly ridiculous thing of filing the individual records, and booklets with the artist and storing the boxes separately. My worst offenders here are the two Jack White/Paramount boxes -- which were a wonderful, thoughtful gift -- but are lousy non-user friendly packaging for anyone that cares about playing the music regularly.
I laugh every time someone on this site writes that they don't buy 45rpm cause they don't want to get up. Don't want to have your music interrupted? Then do i have the technology for you!. I know it’s flat out ridiculous since by nature, vinyl listening is anything but convenient...
