Definitive Audiophile pressings

I laugh every time someone on this site writes that they don't buy 45rpm cause they don't want to get up. Don't want to have your music interrupted? Then do i have the technology for you!
I don't inherently mind 45s even though I am a self-proclaimed lazy bastard a lot of the time, but if I do have a choice of 33 vs 45 mastered by the same person, I'd usually go 33. Don't know that my system (or my ears) are always good enough to notice a difference between the two most of the time. The only 45 that bothers me for being a 45 is the MoFi One Step of Marvin Gaye. The flow of the album does seem to get interrupted due to it being a 45. And I do prefer the 45 of Rumours over the 33 (and MoFi 45 of Electric Warrior over the KG cut slightly but that's a totally different mastering job).

Really pleased with how this $20 copy of The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady from Superior Viaduct sounds!
Definitely a great pressing for the price. I've been pleasantly surprised by most of the Superior Viaduct reissues I have. Most are $15-$20 on sale and sound solid. It would be interesting to compare this one to the upcoming Acoustic Sounds x Verve reissue (assuming it's the same series as the other AS ones) but I don't feel the need to upgrade my SV copy.

Okay this might be slightly stretching the "audiophile" terminology but... the best of the White Stripes "My Sister Thanks You, and I Thank You" is very very well done. I believe all the tracks were remastered and it's the same pressing as the vault box of the same name.. These tracks all sound awesome and they are approximately 5000% better sounding than the VMP De Stijl. Very impressed.

I have so many white stripes records from various companies and I have nothing that sounds as bad as the vmp de stijl. I am genuinely dumbfounded by whatever it is that happened there.

I don’t understand thinking there is a meaningful difference between the interruptions for 33 and 45. Obviously, there’s a mathematical difference, I just don’t think it’s material.

This is getting a rerelease this year for the 60th Anniversary of Impulse through Acoustic Sounds, might be worth hanging out for that one. Not a big fan of Ron McMasters work .
Anybody know if this pressing is any good?

Journey in Satchidananda [Vinyl] Amazon product ASIN B000003N9X

I think it's this one ->

If it is that one on Discogs, I have it. It sounds really, really good and it is analog. Has 'Mastered by Capitol' in the deadwax, along with Ron McMaster's initials.

But make sure it is that one. I seriously doubt any are left on Amazon at least.

No, we do not know that this is going to be part of the AS series. I very much doubt it, as it is very unlikely there is a true master tape anymore.

It’s in the video accompanying the press release that talks about the Acoustic Sounds reissues and Chad has said they aren’t only using master tapes for the AS series...the whole thing is confusing but I’d be surprised if it’s not part of that series. Chad said they will be focusing on Impulse this year for the Impulse anniversary. some of the albums in the Impulse videos were already announced by AS and I truly doubt that Verve is going to be coming out with multiple reissues of the same albums at the same exact time. The video had A Love Supreme and Out of the Cool in it...

Is it really part of the AS series, the preorder going around is 10 bucks cheaper
What preorder? I don’t think the future titles in the AS series are up for preorder yet... but this was in the video that accompanies the press release @kafunis posted, along with other previously announced titles In the AS series, which leads me to believe it will part of that too

The acclaimed audiophile vinyl reissues series, Acoustic Sounds, (Verve/UMe) will celebrate Impulse! all year long with high-end, audiophile grade pressings of integral records from the label's vaunted catalog, starting with Ray Charles' Genius + Soul = Jazz, which was one of the orange label's first four commercial releases in 1961. Pre-order Genius + Soul = Jazz here. Gil Evans' Out of the Cool (pre-order here), Oliver Nelson's The Blues And The Abstract Truth, Sonny Rollins' On Impulse! and many more are set for release throughout the year.

I was going purely based on the fact the Amazon item says 1997. And there's only one 1997 release on Discogs... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Only one way to find out I guess.
