Definitive Audiophile pressings

My issue isn't sending back the copy. I don't want to have 2 of them or try to flip the bad one. It's sending in the copy I have and Acoustic Sounds not sending me the replacement because I get lost in the shuffle and then I'm sitting around with a box and no vinyl. I had no doubt they would ask for the record back and I always ask how the seller would like the record sent back to them when I ask for a replacement. I am usually pretty forgiving on how vinyl sounds. But when I spend $100 on 1 record, it shouldn't pop or have massive amounts of noise like a Blue Note 75. If you're selling your record based on it being the most quiet and noise free way of listening to Kind of Blue then your record better be that way. I expect more out of AS given everything else I've gotten from them has been tip top.

I asked them for clarification on what exactly needs to be sent back. Just the record in its plastic. Or the entire sleeve and record?

Repress preorder is back up

If anyone wants this, I have a copy I would be willing to part with.

I would but shipping would kill it …been looking forward to this for awhile

How much would you pay for the pre-order, shipped to you? I can probably go under (then again, I just saw it's only US$35 so maybe not).

(EDIT: the copy I have is played once or twice but is otherwise intact - I'll carefully double check though)

edit - I might get some orders in tonight, any recommended sellers in Japan?

Oh I 100% agree with you on getting a replacement especially if yours is that bad. I think AS’s customer service is pretty top notch so wouldn’t be TOO worried about not getting another copy. It is a difficult predicament though for sure.

I lucked out in my copy it seems. I noticed on mine there was a lot of static but once I hit it with a zero stat the noise disappeared. Hoping it works out for ya! I agree that for $100 and being advertised as really quiet that it shouldn’t have the issues you’re having.

It was $38 and change after shipping…they have great media mail rates

recordcity.jp are fantastic but beyond that @Skalap it the master of the Japanese shipments!

Also with that rule it’s removing the VAT free pass for a shipment under €22/£20 so tbh if your order was going to be more than that its pretty much par for course.

This is why I’ve been doing all my Amazon U.K. orders individually this year to keep them under £20, not paid VAT on a thing I’ve bought from them this year 😂

it’s recordcity.jp but you get better deals on the records and shipping by going to that website and buying direct
Bought some jazz titles through them pre-Covid. Decent prices and fast shipping. I stopped when it was a total pain to get anything shipped into Canada but might have to give them a try again.

Yeah I ordered some Tom Waits off them earlier in the year and now this Stevie heavy soul bundle. I’m really impressed with them as a store, fair prices, fair descriptions and grading and super quick postage. Also declared each record at 100 yen so slipped in under the customs radar too, sad that will be ending, well for the VAT side at least with the €22 waiver disappearing ☹️

The added bonus with Japanese OGs is that the records are usually so nicely kept too. The sleeves are a little rougher on these that the Waits (but still great for 50ish year old records) but the records themselves look as clean as a bell!

@jamieanderson1968 was it you who suggested this pressing of Ziggy?

Wasn't me, but everything I have read about the early 80s Bowie Japanese presses is that they are consistently some of the best. Probably a safer bet than trying to find a true 2016 AAA press

Yeah I can't remember who specified this one. But it's the only one I'm watching on cogs so NIGHTMather must have done his homework... Might put an order in. No obi which sucks because I love those Japanese obi's. But EX media quality.

It looks like they ship Fed Ex. Did you have to pay "brokerage fees" and all that garbage? Or are they just using Fed Ex for Canada and NA...
