Definitive Audiophile pressings

You all will probably appreciate this story. I met this guy on vacation and we were talking about records. He showed me a photo of his system and it looks like one of those space age turntables that are 7 inches thick. He also had a ultrasonic record cleaner so he had a pretty heavy investment I think. He only has about 100 records, mostly the high end classic rock stuff. I was taken aback a bit that someone would spend thousands and thousands on a system and have only 100 records. He just got some Japanese OG press of a Bread album and was telling me how incredible it sounded and all I could think of was "well, it's still BREAD." To each their own and I'm glad it makes him happy, but I thought the whole thing was kinda bonkers.

To be fair, I wish I could be content with only 100 records!

I currently have 106 "audiophile label" records (AP, Mofi, SC, PP, Impex, ORG and MM). Not including MOVs because... It's not really audiophile all the time. So that puts me at like 16% audiophile albums. I'm pretty good with that.

not sure if it's anything....but noticed that this MM title changed from out of stock to "coming soon"

haven't looked to see if any others changed, and no idea if this was always this way...

I think Iā€™m on about 30 out of 925 so 3%ish. Iā€™d like more but given mofi and APs curation Iā€™m actually fine with it too. I do, however, have plenty outside the audiophile labels that I totally deem to be audiophile quality.

Edit: just given this thread, sound quality etc -- this isn't Belafonte or Withers at... It's a solid recording, but you aren't going to put it on and pause because of the sound quality. Heck of a set though and it plays well

@Mather Real gone of Mingus at Carnegie is good, solid, pressing was terrific. 100% with picking up and over performs the steaming on my system by a good margin.

I'd also, highly recommend (!!) the Roy Brooks set from RSD.

Restock a little over MSRP
Anyone know how the Simply Vinyl version of Schmilsson sounds? Went to play it and found it to be a sealed copy. I always keep sealed copies separate from the players but somehow this one was in the players rack.

Havenā€™t checked audiophile label, but Iā€™m at 111 boom boom out of my 1300 or so albums. Need to up that boom boom ratio!
I have 72 KPG but only 21 Audiphile (ORG, AP, MoFi, PP, SC, Intervention, and Classic) and I have about 1500 albums. Must have a lot of crap on my shelves.

Zero Bread albums though.

If you add in my other KPGs I'm at 150 audiophile. So 25%. I like that number better.
Yeah, some of my KPGs are pressed at United and shit though, so I would probably put mine n the same category as you were putting MOV. Sometimes audiophile. Also, you could probably include some Craft and VMP Classics in the Audiophile bucket too I suppose.

Yeah thats exactly why. My taste is why I instead have 77 Chris Bellman masters instead and I gotta say that I like work! I can see my 29 Ryan Smith going up before my 26 Kevin Gray.
Yeah, I have 56 CB and 34 RKSā€¦

ā€¦While weā€™re at it, I also have 35 Bernie Grundman, 35 John Golden, and 4 Steve Hoffman.
