Definitive Audiophile pressings

Honeatly with the Warner back catalogue those rhino albums sell themselves. The people who actually care who mastered it are a tiny percentage. Honestly I can say that so long as it sounds great I couldn’t care less either.
Fair enough! Luckily most are easy to get after they come out and someone has noted the dead wax. Some of them are upgrades for me over older copies that are a bit beat up and I mostly only wanna upgrade if I know for sure that the pressings sound good. I did that with most of the Talking Heads catalogue since KG and Bellers cut them.

Yeah it really is. The 25th anniversary of His N Hers was brill so I was really surprised when it didn’t get that treatment too. Well unless it just got caught up in the whole 2020 shitstorm and we will have to wait till 30.
Good to know this one sounds great. My wife loves Pulp and I have been meaning to pick this one up.

I concur with Joe... the His N Hers anniversary is really well done.

I still don't have Different Class because the reissues don't get good reviews. Definitely curious about your views of the Simply Vinyl vs the OG @McGlam . The OG is supposed to be the way to go with this, from what I read, but it's quite pricey. Does yours have the die-cut cover and all?

What about This Is Hardcore - anyone with views of the reissues? Yay or nay?

Seems like Plaid Room had one copy of the anniversary pressing left so I ordered it. I have a reissue of Different Class. It’s meh. I think we picked it up somewhere for cheap. I do like this review of it though on Amazon:
“This review is for the vinyl record only, and put simply its absolute pants. Two stars.”

I don't, but suspect it will be good, though not as great as the MoFi. Simply Vinyl did some good pressings in the 90's early 00's but the Mofi is outstanding

Do you keep sealed copies of records?
This copy appears to be a 180gm 2002 edition. Listening to an OG at the moment sounds just fine so selling the SV is likely.
Down to about 50 sealed discs now having sold many over the years. Never was into multiple backups and the ones I have now were randomly accumulated.

I’ve got the MOV, and if I recall correctly, it sounds pretty great

Yes it has the die-cut cover. I had some money in my PayPal account and they made an offer on a copy in the United States and was thrilled that they accepted. They packaged it in very flimsy packaging though and it came with a severely bent corner which was very disappointing. Happy to have one of my whales though. I’m out of town for the next several weeks but I will definitely play them back to back.

I would be surprised if this hasn't been posted here, but we'll toss it up anyway just in case. Just got the Craft pressing of Chet Baker - In New York, and it sounds fantastic. Lacquer cut at Coherent by "Boom Boom", pressed at RTI and can still be had at retail. My only nit-pick, the cover image is a little sub-par, but that may be what the original looks like for all I know. Of course that takes nothing away from the important part, the music ;)

It does sound great but I have gone through two copies so far and both had random repetitive clicking which is verrrrrrry annoying.

All the KG/Craft Chets sound fantastic! I grabbed the box set before they did the breakouts from an amazon buy 2 get 1 sale and love it.

Since we're talking about "Difinitve" pressings and while this isn't completely in line with this thread, I thought it best to pose this question here. So I'm just looking for some opinions, I'm not diving head first into SACD's, but would like to grab something, if for nothing else, to test the unit. But, while I was mulling this over and just looking for an SACD I started to wonder, should I get something I don't own in some other format, or should I get something I do have and am familiar with for comparison.

What would you do?

I'm assuming I'd buy more than one! :D But I definitely would want to buy an SACD of something I'm familiar enough with, and own on vinyl, to be able to make a comparison.

Just get the new Dark Side OTM SACD mix and go from there. Or at least, that's what I would do. Most clichéd answer ever, I know... but might as well go with a heavy hitter I say...

If you can get a decent priced copy the Japanese SHM-SACD of Goodbye Yellowbrick Road is outstanding.

The best recording I own is on an SACD (I really should pick up the vinyl to compare)
