Definitive Audiophile pressings

Oh, Discogs…

[sigh] Someone decided that the 2016 Ziggy was digital because it sounds digital to them and felt they needed to update the release to notate this with zero supporting evidence.

cool.
I saw it and was literally formulating a snarky yet deeply cutting response that would rock him to his very core, when yours suddenly popped up.

Back in stock at Plaidroom.

Edit: And gone
Anyone found any samples of this on line just to check out ?

The 30th anniversary sounds better than my Mofi I think..both fantastic btw
My only word of caution regarding the 30th anniversary is surface noise. I’ve had two over the years that suffered from surface noise, particularly on Side 2. I wound up selling both and bought the 2016 and it was a much better experience for me. It’s one of those albums where the slightest bit of noise can be very distracting. I’ve talked to at least one other person who dealt with the same issue on the same songs. I’m not sure if it was a specific batch of them or what, but if you are looking at the 30th at all you might want to seek out one that is open/has been played. Sucks too because the sound is killer on it!

I agree with @Colonel4Bin. I know a lot of the projects that Zev Feldman has worked on in the past gets comments about sound quality being poor at times (although they are typically amateur source recordings) but this one is stellar.

My copy just arrived today. packaged well with the vinyl outside of the sleeve, had a quick look & noticed some marks on side F. I've given it a play and a clean (just side F as I'm working), definitely some pressing issues, a bit of stitching. Did you get to side F yet?

Yeah I've listened to the full thing and didn't have an issue with F. My A/B was slightly warped with faint ticks at the beginning though but nothing too bad.

cool, I'll give it a proper listen tonight & send an email, but I doubt the store will have any copies left. I might have to try pinging elemental

I sold my MFSL DSOTM. The A-3/B-3, 30th, and 2016 were all much better to my ears. The second issue UK I have is untouchable. If you want the best dark side experience go 1st or 2nd press UK. There’s a early-mid 70s reissue mastered by Harry Moss that comes close to the originals.

My first set of 2016 presses were all super poppy, The Wall, DSOTM and Wish You Were Here. And I tried a couple of times to get a clean copy at that time and they were all bad, then I just went out this week and tried again (about 3 years after buying those first copies) and both DSOTM and The Wall are flawless this time. So there must have been a dodgy Record Industry run around 2017ish. Also the packaging on The Wall that I just grabbed is different than the earlier 2016 press (even though it's considered the same press). Earlier Wall has "The Wall" front cover graphic sticker applied to the shrink wrap and not directly on the jacket, and the inner sleeves have about a 1 cm cut out along the front opening of the inner sleeves. The repress I just received has the album graphic sticker directly on the jacket and the sleeves have no cut out. Thought that was kinda strange. Gunna swap discs and stick with the better more accurate packaging from the earlier run. Kinda feels like it should actually be a different Cogs listing considering the packaging actually changed.

Just looking at my brothers discogs (because I let him my old copy of DSOTM), and he has this one listed. I bought a BG copy cheap to compare but never got round to it. I remember it being a difficult one to identify the correct entry, so probably needs checking but I'll get it off him to compare.

I have the BG cuts, I picked them up maybe a couple of years ago, definitely not when they first cam out, both are flawless pressings.

TBH I can't remember what my 70's copy looks like & it's not in the house. It is a bit beat up & I did think they had done a good job on the reissue. The BG cut has the sticker applied to the jacket. do you mean a recess like this? I wonder if the difference is in the EU & US pressings, both are record Industry I think?
