Definitive Audiophile pressings

I have the BG cuts, I picked them up maybe a couple of years ago, definitely not when they first cam out, both are flawless pressings.

TBH I can't remember what my 70's copy looks like & it's not in the house. It is a bit beat up & I did think they had done a good job on the reissue. The BG cut has the sticker applied to the jacket. do you mean a recess like this? I wonder if the difference is in the EU & US pressings, both are record Industry I think?

Yeah exactly. As far as I can tell both my 2017 BG and 2021 BG are US and only the earlier 2017 had that cut out and the proper blank wall cover with the sticker not applied to the jacket.

That's the front album cover of the 2016 BG US Record Industry copy I bought in 2017. So at least some of them didn't have the sticker applied to the jacket. Not sure how though.

I think the UK Original had the sticker on the cover, the later versions didn't.

My 70's version is a Netherlands pressing with no sticker:

1st pressing

edit - it's not the first & later, it's the UK vs other countries. the 1st US pressing has no sticker

Oh god... OH GOD WHICH IS THE RIGHT ONE! WHICH ONE IS MORE CORRECT I CAN ONLY KEEP ONE

-hyperventilates into paper bag-

If you keep both, you could switch them on drunk people and let them freak out when they think they've lost the sticker
I like this idea. Except it's bound to confound NIGHTMather in much the same manner. I'm concerned that his frustration would likely manifest itself into something that I would have to deal with, like waking up to a smouldering bonfire of albums in my livingroom.

Is anyone else getting updates to the Ziggy Discogs saga?

"
I have exact this one and compare it with the 2012 AAA 40th anniversary release.
I can prefer this one sounds different.(digital)
This one is not the Repress of the 40th anniversary package.
You can identify it on sealed records on the round sticker"remastered" and on the backside stand "digital remaster"
Digital remaster stand not on an AAA release."

@Mather Can you leave a note for NightMather to sort it?

The last time NightMather sorted things. And that was at a school

It hasn’t been a great day for Ziggy he may wanna head back to Mars after dealing with these moron earthlings.

The sheer amount of imbeciles with 10 records in their collection that have slowly started to edit every single cogs release with their own uninformed idiotic opinions is truly depressing.

Also yes, if NIGHTMather had unfettered access to Cogs edits he would likely just replace the Ziggy page with a Chris Gaines album including entirely incorrect data stolen from the Whipped Cream and Other Delights page and then attempt to flush the computer down the toilet. Then he'd go drink bourbon in the basement.

Sounds like a Friday night for me.

Imagine if they were VMP subscribers. They would do a different entry for each slight colour variantion.

Oh, Discogs…

[sigh] Someone decided that the 2016 Ziggy was digital because it sounds digital to them and felt they needed to update the release to notate this with zero supporting evidence.

cool.

I want to give your last post in the thread over there a big thumbs up. Record collectors that base their arguments on the sleeve above the matrix... SMH. If this persists, I'll add a post in support since I own this pressing too.

We should really just link our thread conversation that we all had on here about a month ago, we already sussed this all out.

Or, considering the album at issue, you might wake up in a Cask of Amontillado situation.
In his drunken fervour it is very likely that NIGHTMather would not fully consider the inevitable outcome that attempting to entomb me in the basement would produce. Although his slow realization that he is now also entombed in the basement would probably be pretty entertaining. If there were anyone there to see it, which there wouldn't be.

We've been through this recently I think, but Zeppelin reissues... are the recent ones fine?

EDIT: by recent, I mean the 2014's, which I think are the last reissues

I have the reissued Mothership box set and it's... fine. In its very digital, but I think pretty much all the newer reissues sound like that.

All this Dark Side of the Moon talk made me wonder why I don't have the 2016 BG remaster. It's readily available for around $30, a fair price I suppose. And, I have the 2016 versions of Animals and The Wall, which I like.

But then my new obsession with Record City Japan and their pristine OGs kicked in. @Joe Mac was right, I've ordered 8 LPs from them and if they say it's "excellent," then it is. I found two Japanese pressings of DSotM from '73 (or '74 according to cogs), one Ex/Ex, one Ex/VG+. Ordered both, will keep the one I like more, figure something out for the other, which I expect will be a close second.
