Definitive Audiophile pressings

The MoFi now is nothing like the MoFI of the 70s/80s.

I honestly don't think of them as the same company and they really aren't. Music Direct really just bought the name.
Agree. They are better.

Music Direct bought the company, and wisely kept it pretty much intact and independent, aside from the distribution - Music Direct's strength, and the old MOFI's downfall.

MD did not just buy the name. MD retained the proprietary mastering chain and studio, same location as before, invested in it, kept Britton and brought on LoVerde, brought back Krieg for vinyl cuts, upped the pressing quality and cover quality, put out a ton of high resolution SACD's, and have done more consistently superior mastering.

What's to complain about there?

The recent MFSL Santana - Lotus vinyl is one of the most stunning sets I have, sonically and visually.

Have any of the One-Steps been more than 2xLP? If Clapton Unplugged is really on the list, do we think they would keep it at 2xLP and make some cuts, or go to 3?

You had me until “MFSL Santana - Lotus vinyl”... I don’t believe MFSL have done Lotus.

I had to look that up...looks dope. They def bury the provenance compared to US releases (eg doesn’t seem to be the standard banner).
I think they generally prefer faithful reproductions of original covers in Japan if I'm not mistaken. Considering they also put a (different) banner on US issues that aren't from original tapes, I doubt that choice is related to provenance. I believe the discogs listing translates the hype card, which states it is from the HD DSD master though.

@Mather you should post a pic of your warped record, the renumbering, the lack of photos and the shitty email. @ them and so a load of mofi hashtags, they can’t delete your posts!
Really eh? Well if they actually send the pictures I suppose I will just consider that a win. They can delete them.

Oh, by the way in case you didn't see it on my profile post. They got back to me and said they have found two sets of photos for both myself and @Mr Moustache. They have also already replaced his warp and I'm talking to them about both of mine. So, as long as they actually follow though. I will give the social media flack credit for doing some actual leg work that their useless CS avoided.

Yes the Discogs listing does translate the source.

I think you mistook my use of “provenance”. I don’t mean whether it comes from original masters, digital, etc.

Just that it comes from MOFI at all. That banner is always the quick cue that you’re looking at a MOFI - before you dig into what it actually says.
