Definitive Audiophile pressings

Anyone have an opinion on Friday Music, particularly their "180 gram blue audiophile vinyl" reissue of Misfits by The Kinks?
I avoided them for a while because they don't seem to have the best reputation--at least not on the Hoffman forum. (But then again, some of those guys trash Tone Poets, so I should have known to take it with a grain of salt.) After having to return a Speakers Corner copy of Buddy Guy & Junior Wells' Play the Blues because it had a prominent scratch on it straight out of the shrink, I saw the Friday Music version of the album on sale for about $20 and gave it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. It's clean, flat, and sounds pretty good to me.

Friday Music seems to try to market themselves as "audiophile" along the lines of AP, MoFi, and Speakers Corner. They definitely don't reach that level of quality. At list price, their LPs are only a dollar or two cheaper than Speakers Corner, and if I had the choice between a $33.98 Friday Music record and $34.98 Speakers Corner record (as they're priced at Acoustic Sounds), I'd go Speakers Corner every time. But Friday Music is sold at Target and Amazon, and if can find something I want for $20 to $25, I'm no longer going to avoid them--that seems to me to be a fair price. They definitely are not trash as people on the Hoffman forums seem to suggest.

Lock in the $5 savings now and pay the $8.07 shipping, or wait, pay $5 more and save on the shipping and still come out 3 bucks ahead....
true! i forgot that they add shipping in preorders/backorders. if you order more than 1 title though still makes sense to preorder i think...

Just calling in after a manic two weeks of imploding cars, new cars and seeing family to say that I’m finally getting around to spinning the last batch I got from Japan and they’re as brilliant as the previous 3.

The MOR and Jazz audiophile talk can now resume.

P.S. We were slagging MoFi Train last year but are lauding Counting Crowes AP now? Aren’t they essentially the same nonsense?

I think the Counting Crows album is much better than Train. But maybe it's the nostalgia talking...owned it on CD when I was a kid. I can't stand Train at all.

From radio hits back in the day I hate both but I’ll concede that one could well be much better than the other but it’s all in that 90s US MOR drawer that I’ve never really had any intention of opening!

Edit: I just remembered the big yellow taxi cover. Counting Crows can fuck right off 😂

lolol. I forgot about that Big Yellow Taxi cover. That one's almost as bad as Limp Bizkit's "Behind Blue Eyes" cover. Or when Fred Durst and the GooGoo Dolls "sang" Pink Floyd - "Wish You Were Here" for the September 11th concert.

Or that gothy nu-metal band that did the bad cover of Eleanor Rigby…

They aren’t though. Adam Duritz dated both Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston. The Lead Singer of Train never dated a single Friends cast member.

Seriously, though I enjoy 2 songs on August And Everything After. That is two more than I enjoyed from Drops Of Jupiter.

Also, I slay “Mr. Jones” during a drunken Karaoke session.
