Definitive Audiophile pressings

So, tried again & got through with no queue. Ordered Bitches Brew, but he insisted on listing all the One Steps, so I ordered Sketches of Spain as well. (I'll probably cancel Sketches of Spain to avoid shipping charges).

He knew I was calling about the One-Steps before I said anything, also said they had been busy with calls from all over the world.
I kinda wonder if they may change their preorder system in the future as they become more popular. people will NOT be happy if items completely sell out in preorder before it's listed on their site.

I may cancel my Sketches of Spain too because if it's a 45, they are gonna have to split the opening track over 2 sides I'd imagine. don't see how you could fit a 16 min track on one side of a 45...

This seems to be why software was invented. Let a computer do the work instead of a person and then have the human do something of actual value.

The other thing with the pre-order is it costs more to staff phone lines. It would be cheaper & simpler to mail existing customers and they could stagger the mail outs so they don't get a big pre-order rush. I doubt they would sell out on pre-order, I'm sure they'll always just press more, increase the limited number.

I'd talked myself out of Sketches of Spain, but when he mentioned it, I got sucked in. Definitely on the fence.

I do want Jack Johnson but might leave that for another day I only just missed getting one at standard price a few months back so doubt they will go too quickly when announced.

Ok fine so I just pre-ordered “Bitches and Sketches” (that’s what sales guy Josh said after I told him I wanted the Miles Davis One Steps). He was hilarious.

Also of note, he sold me on $60 SuperVinyl for Tribute to Jack Johnson. He said SuperVinyl also coming for
Round About Midnight
Miles Smiles
On the Corner
Sorcerer

I hadn’t heard anything about those yet.

I had posted those over the weekend as well:

More MoFi titles on their way:

Warren Zevon - first album and excitable boy (believe these are regular 45 MoFi)

Supervinyl:
Miles Smiles
On The Corner
Jack Johnson
Round About Midnight
Sorcerer
My Funny Valentine
There are now I think around 35 or so titles available to backorder.

I've had Blonde On Blonde on backorder for well over a year, surely it'll get repressed soon
I didn’t mention this in my previous post, but I’ve had Sorcerer on back order for a year, and the MD rep simply swapped my old order w/ the new Supervinyl pre-order (adding an additional $10 to the order in the process).

He said they would not be repressing the old formulation for Sorcerer and that the (allegedly) forthcoming Supervinyl is a separate item in their system.

That may be irrelevant for backordered items that are _not_ slated for forthcoming Supervinyl releases, but I wanted to give you a heads up about what I was told re Sorcerer.

Same here. I wasn’t even counting represses in that count of 35. There are all sorts of preorderable One Steps (Elvis, Cannonball Adderly, CSN, etc).

I've been listening to BB for about 40 years, listened to the whole thing the other day , love it when it's raining or during a storm.
As my buddy @Potato-Socks likes to say, Bitches Brew is one of these records everyone owns and loves and gets around to play about once a year. And in any given year, when time comes to play it, you sometimes say, "nah, not this year". He's not wrong.

I decided to not let FOMO guide me and to wait until they are available for preorder online. I probably won't be in the US in 1.5-2 years from now, so no real point in putting an order when they could come out and I won't be here anymore. If I manage to get them when the are available online, good, otherwise, I'll live with it.

I admire your restraint. Sadly, I called back and added I Robot(s). :-). Just got off the treadmill. Got to keep my heart ticking strong for a few more years.

This was my preorder. CSN is a bargain for one cent less than the others.
Re: that CSN title, while I suspect the One Step will be divine, I can recommend the 2009 Rhino mastered by Grundman from original analog master tapes. Sounds great with lots of separation and wonderful voice placement. Listening right now.
