Yeah, I have Bill's first two albums already and the Carnegie Hall set, just thought I needed to add to my MOFI collection while I could find it. And have heard great things about the Carole King, going in somewhat blind but excited for it.Got the Bill Withers GH MOFI last week and it's been on steady repeat.
Had the Carole King delivered today. About to clean it and give it a listen. But I have an OG pressing that sounds fantastic, so this should be interesting.Yeah, I have Bill's first two albums already and the Carnegie Hall set, just thought I needed to add to my MOFI collection while I could find it. Listened to the MoFi and it sounds great. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow almost made me weep it was so visceral. (And yeah, for some reason 'weep' is the word that came to mind.) Then I played just that track from my OG, and while it sounds very good, differences are evident. The MoFi is much clearer. The three-part-harmony through the middle of the song just took over my body, hence the weeping. With the OG, those harmonies are there sure enough, but they're more recessed, particularly the female voice in the right channel. Another difference is that the MoFi is just cleaner (not to be confused with clearer) and more pure. I can play it at very high volumes and it sounds great, whereas the OG doesn't handle volume very well. Overall, the OG is a bit more muddy and seems to be cut a bit hot, with a few hints of sibilance, which are absent in the MoFi. The only thing about the MoFi that could be improved upon, in my view, is the noise floor, which is quite audible. I imagine the One-Step will address that, and it will be terrific.Had the Carole King delivered today. About to clean it and give it a listen. i might go for all the monos but am really torn about it...that's a lot of $$$!I have no will power. Think I will be shooting for the entire 50.
It is for sure. I am still kicking myself I didn't get more of the music matters titles when they were cheap. As long as they only release a couple every month or so I think I can keep up. If they all come flooding in then no way.i might go for all the monos but am really torn about it...that's a lot of $$$!
With the current pressing delays, I don't think they could manage more than a few announcements a month without getting too ahead of themselves. As long as they only release a couple every month or so I think I can keep up. If they all come flooding in then no way.
that's kinda my situation too. but i also noticed that the nat king cole APs are slowly starting to go out of print. some have been marked down to "limited stock" and had their prices raised...It is for sure. Be careful. I have extreme case of FOMO. I need spoiler alerts on these type of responses.that's kinda my situation too. but i also noticed that the nat king cole APs are slowly starting to go out of print. some have been marked down to "limited stock" and had their prices raised...
And they dropped some prices. Someone else please buy these so I don't empty my wallet...A few older MoFi's available from Acoustic Sound's Vault on discogs, priced within reason (all things being relative) as vinyl in all cases is listed as VG+ with jackets of similar or lesser ratings.
