Definitive Audiophile pressings

Feel I've asked this a lot. Does AS charge on pre-order or shipment? Would love to pre-order most of the new AS series releases but don't want to spend a bajillion dollars rn

Also looks like Ella & Louis again is priced at $50? Is that their 2LP price?

didn't realize the 2LP AS series were $50...

I believe AS puts a hold on your credit card when you order, but doesn't technically charge you until shipping. I backordered 6 different prestige AP pressings and saw the charge on my account as pending but it has since disappeared on my online CC statement.

unsure if they hold the items until they are all ready or if they ship as they come in. you don't get free shipping on preorders though even if you order over a certain amount.

Most of these AS Series should be coming to PBC as well. Just sayin.

The double Ella/Louis is also on my want list.

That makes it easy then. Has a poll gone up to cast votes for releases yet? I'm there.

I have the 45RPM AP Ella & Louis and its glorious, will likely just keep that one and grab Ella and Louis again

Sure, post over in the PBC thread and I can update everyone.

I'm doing the same exact thing on the Ella/Louis Lp's as you

For Blood On The Tracks, hunt down the UK Absolute Analogue pressing from 1998. It is amazing and IMO better than the MOFI.

Or, as an alternative, hunt down the 2019 Blood On The Tracks Test Pressing, which I actually prefer significantly to the released album.

Do you have any insight on their copy of Highway 61?

Well, of course it is great. They used genuine 2nd gen CBS UK master tapes, which are I imagine superior to the remix tape MOFI used, as it is an actual 1 to 1 copy of the 1st master.

But...since then, a competitor has come in to play, the recent Sony Japan vinyl, again taken analog from the Japanese master tape. That's the one I have landed on.

I saw the Japanese pressings but couldn't find out much about them. I'll have a look at that again.

Did anyone pick up the Art Blakey & JM - First Flight to Tokyo?

What are your thoughts? Is it worth ~$40?

On the one hand, I don’t know what I’m expecting given this thread is basically full of enablers… but figured I’d ask.

Arrived today. Spinning mine now. On 2nd side. Maybe not up with the very best BL Studio reissues but it is a killer set. IMHO sounds much better than many “newly discovered” live tapes. I like it.

So killer performance, solid sound, nice booklet, and well pressed. What’s not love. :).

Update: Had to play it through to the end. Dropping it in the replay stack for another spin. 👍

You think this Japanese pressing is better than the mono box pressing? Anywhere in the states to source this?

thought this was cancelled and made a supervinyl instead? now it looks like theres a one step as well.

most of the upcoming one steps are listed now as "coming soon" on mofi's site

I saw that too, and wondered if it was a mistake. Even if it is true, I’d prefer this on 33.

This one is FANTASTIC.

Had to grab this one from music direct a few weeks ago even though it is fairly similar to the recent Carnegie Hall release. I really need to to conserve shelf space but they are both so good.

The sound quality on all the Neil stuff is so great. I got this a few weeks ago too and find myself spinning this and Carnegie a lot.

@JohnnyCashFan were you looking for this one?
