Definitive Audiophile pressings

I think this is actually the biggest part of opening a plant, having experienced leadership to run it assuages my biggest concern. Good luck to them, I'm interested to see how it goes.
I agree. Another interesting part of this is its one less part they are dependent on a third party. Allowing them more control over the final product. Aside from jacket printing, they should be in complete control of the end product. No more excuses after this VMP and you better fucking repress Wu-Tang after the plant gets up and running!

Just wait till next year they move to a one-step pricing model.

DUDE!! Do not give them any ideas. You take that back right now! :)
Don't worry, if you do a 12 month subscription they'll discount it to $1,395.

But seriously this is good news especially environmentally, since they seemed to be responsible for a LOT of waste materials from represses (of messed up albums, not the good kind) and global shipping. I know it's a blip overall, but I still think it'll be a good thing.

Controlling their own plant should give them access to a wider range of artists/titles. Maybe we'll finally get some metal and punk/hardcore out of VMP.

Denver's metal scene is growing and I don't understand why VMP has not capitalized on that yet.

It wouldn’t have been a bad call if they did. Presses are bloody expensive and there is, last time I read, an even bigger backlogue with the very few specialists who make presses than there is for records. A press is a press at the end of the the day!
Think they bought old rainbow machinery?
We will be using all new machines sourced from Pheenix Alpha in Sweden and Viryl Technologies in Canada

Also interestingly, he says they will primarily press records for VMP and a small number of founding partners

Does VMP’s plant indicate capacity? I wonder if everything is going to be done in house now. Would make everything on their end more streamlined. Good for them, that’s a huge undertaking.
I don't think they said capacity, but said they will mostly be pressing their own records + records for some founding partners and the whole thing is already fully funded and going to be up and running soon.

I don't have an OG to compare, but I think AS sounds great and it's AAA

Chad mentions that the Discogs median is $240 on this, which is correct. Even eBay has most selling for $180-220 (which also means flippers are making $10-$15 after eBay fees lol)

Do people not check for stuff anywhere other than Discogs?? Why on earth are people already buying them for twice the price? This hobby confuses the hell out of me sometimes.

People see the price tags and assume it’s not in print anymore. I’ve definitely overpaid for an album on discogs only to see it in the bands web store at normal retail price…but that was a $10 mistake not a $120 mistake. And it won’t happen again haha
