I agree! 4 LPs, book, art, his hand as a light-up sculpture...For all the art in that box, that seems like a fair price.

I hope more records include light-up hand sculptures!I agree! 4 LPs, book, art, his hand as a light-up sculpture...

There's a really good thread going on over at Hoffman.Sorry if I missed this already but has anyone done a direct shootout of Jimi AYE UHQR vs the 2014 Newbury cut? Or any of the cuts from that master?
The 1 LP. Figured it's a start.the 1LP or the 2LP?
nice! I have that one too although mine is probably closer to VG condition than VG+. i have the 2LP on backorder at Music Direct. The 1 LP. Figured it's a start.
Definitely. Only time will tell if it is producing a audiophile-grade product.More pressing plants is good for everyone. Ease some of the massive demand and free up all the plants to do better work instead of being overloaded and backlogged and putting out inferior product.
Hmmm, I will reserve judgement

I was prepared to be sceptical. But if they've got David Rawlings on board and he brings as much care as he has done to the Acony/Gillian Welch stuff then it would be interesting.Hmmm, I will reserve judgement

Very surprised they poached Gary. Maybe that's why QRP told VMP they wouldn't do classics anymoreI mean there is some lowing hanging fruit in terms of jokes and being skeptical on quality, but I believe this is great news. The more pressing plants that can come online to meet demand the better for the hobby overall.
I do wonder if this was the reason they cut ties with QRP. I always assumed it was the other way around, where QRP ended the relationship to fill demand of their catalog. Bringing online a new pressing plant seems like it would take longer than a year. Shrug.
Also, did they really just poach Gary Salstrom from QRP to run it? That gives me more confidence this will be top notch.
This is my guess as well. Spinning up this type of business takes a considerable amount of planning to execute. They would have had to have already secured financing, real-estate, talent, org structure, contracts, purchasing presses, etc. many many months ago. Well prior to that announcement.Very surprised they poached Gary. Maybe that's why QRP told VMP they wouldn't do classics anymore
I think this is actually the biggest part of opening a plant, having experienced leadership to run it assuages my biggest concern. Good luck to them, I'm interested to see how it goes. It's being run by Gary Salstrom.
I always thought the 1 lp MoFi sounded pretty darn good! Definitely more clear and bright than the OG without sacrificing the bass. I eventually sold my copy though since I bought the 2 LP and didn’t need three copies. Plus, like yours, the single MoFi was in VG condition. I would love to have a NM quality copy since I would probably spin that more than the OG. The 2 lp MoFi is reference quality but it’s a bit of a pain to play.nice!
