Definitive Audiophile pressings

i'm really glad they listened to feedback and shipped them in better boxes this time around. the shipping/packing was much better this time around.

Definitely. I still wish they would have done a replacement for my Lush Life box.

I relented an opened it top.Looks nice, has the signature in the dead wax.

Now... I could be mistaken about the PURPOSE of a "test pressing"... But I can't help but feel that it being sealed MIGHT... might NOT be the best way of utilizing said "test pressing"...

There was also 100 of them. So, a better description might be “never officially released”. I have a really nice copy of the stock Classic Recs version. It is superb. Theoretically, this version may be better but my 33rpm plays perfectly like new. It would suck to cut this open and have a pressing flaw.

I dunno…Starting an eBay account called “testpressings” and selling them for $800 a pop seems like a decent use of the test pressings to me!

Also this account sells one of these every month it seems.

I remember in an interview with KG he once said he thinks it’s silly to buy test pressings since a lot aren’t how the album was supposed to sound or had issues. That’s why they had to get more test pressings made

What's the prevailing thought on the Japanese Digital Mastersound Series? 1982ish

@OMC? @RHANDMJ?

Specifically this one...

From what I'm seeing it seems to be a pretty hit and miss series...

Oh wow! I always do but because the declare 100 yen a record it rarely passes €10-€15. Maybe you have a free limit? They removed that over here Eugh!
Not sure. I did a simple cd order as a test the first time ($25USD) and no taxes/duties. Since then I have done 2 orders, at least one was over $100USD total and still not charges. It has been several months now and I have not been billed.

Yeah my orders are generally big so are way over that but because they do a customs decaraltion of 100 yen a record, which is peanuts (€.75) even with 20 you’re only on €15 being declared. Before the EU rules changed last July we had a limit of €22 and below that was free so never charged. Since they got rid of that I have had duty but because it’s 23% of that plus the fees it’s still only €10-15 so I’m not getting hugely up in arms at less than €1 a record.

If you have any kind of lower limit it’s likely squeezing under it, like mine used to, because they declare so little, so you’re not getting charges being due.

Interestingly it seems the Craft One Step of Relaxin was cut multiple times years apart (according to the RTI codes). That’s probably why some people got the full signature while others got just the BG in the dead wax. Kinda sounds like they had planned to just do 1,000 of this one too before the series got so popular

Yeah I suppose for 5,000 one steps you would need at least 5 sets of lacquers cut!
