Definitive Audiophile pressings

I noticed your troll keeps reposting his nonsense word for word every time it gets taken down. How weird and how odd that cogs keep letting him repost it time after time.
Yeah I just keep adding new reviews of his to my breakfast deletion moment of zen. Discogs doesn't really do much to justify the money they pull in, they certainly don't have anything I would describe as "competent moderation"...

Unless you make a minor mistake or, shock shock horror, put the photos out of the prescribed order, they’re all over that shit 🙄

The Thriller release is a meh for me.
It's just a childhood music video memory.
No band, instruments, lyrics, or notes that I want to hear at super high quality.

It is something that I could stream for a party and be perfectly content without vinyl.
Mofi should release as the silver label IMHO. Would sell a lot better at that price range.
40k seems really high for $100+

Will be interesting to see how this goes but it is nice to see Mofi change it up.

What about the guitar playing on Beat It? That's not too shabby.

I’d prefer they do 33 and 45 versions for most one steps to be honest…I’d probably go for the 33s and save a little money if it’s a title I like. Or better yet a 33 supervinyl and a 45 one step
The doubling up on titles is just exhausting to me. I would much rather see them just pick one version for an album and simultaneously do more titles. For me, Acoustic Sounds/AP seems to be doing much more interesting stuff and I’ve discovered much better music through their current reissue campaigns. And the $40 price for top shelf products is much more reasonable.

But these labels aren’t stupid, they know if they press a 33 version of something and a year or two later do the 45, people will buy them just to compare the sound quality despite both being very, very good. It just gets very tiring.

Right so they decide to enter the 80s with a one step by a peadophile. I suppose it mixes well with the Clapton and Crosby picks. Classy all around.

I agree with ur sediment. It would be a lot harder to even consider buying this if MJ wasn’t already atoning for his sin in the great beyond. It is hard to look past certain sick behaviors and being a Pedophile is right up there on the list.

The more AAA chain original copies I find, the more I am turning away from seeking one steps on popular albums that are widely available. I have really nice original pressings of SRV CSTW and Santana for $35 total investment. The jackets are not perfect but that is fine with me.

If one steps came out today of either, I would pass. The originals are really that great.

I prefer 33 so I'd rather have 33s of anything over 45s. They are doing that for the Van Halens too apparently. Doesn't bother me if they double up at all--I'm not interested in buying both to compare. Doing both lets me choose which one I want.

Whole-heartedly agree that the price point of the AP's and Tone Poets are better. I have no need for the box either. The supervinyl + one step does sound excellent though so if it's a title I like (like some of the Miles albums), I'll grab those.

The AS and Tone Poet series has been kinda exhausting for me. I used to pick up most of them but there are just so many to try to keep track of now, dates shift and I can't keep up with the new titles.

Man you guys weren't kidding about Japanese grading. This jacket was rated VG+ from Ella Records and this thing is practically mint.
Well I can also confirm the pressing is NM all around. Man, very impressed with the grading and nice to know that the picture I had in my mind of what NM grading should sound like, is correct. Always kinda wondered about that.

I’m on the opposite end. Those series’ are both putting out fantastic music, some of which i’m not familiar with. I’m not someone who needs to have all of them, as I’m not going to like all of them. But they’re also not “buy now, cry later” limited titles and they’ll almost always be around if you don’t pre-order.

I would much rather have a bunch of titles like that to pick and choose what I like from. With the MoFi stuff, it’s like they’re baiting people by putting out a 33 and then down the road a 45 of the same album, to which they know “audiophiles” will want to compare and argue about endlessly. All of those resources could be put to much better use IMO, building a bigger catalog instead of redoing the same albums over and over and over for what is 99% of the time very small improvements only people with really high end stuff can even decipher.

But what do I know lol. At the end of the day they’re making money and that’s what they really care about. There’s just a lot I would like to see get better treatment.
