Definitive Audiophile pressings

I’m on the opposite end. Those series’ are both putting out fantastic music, some of which i’m not familiar with. I’m not someone who needs to have all of them, as I’m not going to like all of them. But they’re also not “buy now, cry later” limited titles and they’ll almost always be around if you don’t pre-order.

I would much rather have a bunch of titles like that to pick and choose what I like from. With the MoFi stuff, it’s like they’re baiting people by putting out a 33 and then down the road a 45 of the same album, to which they know “audiophiles” will want to compare and argue about endlessly. All of those resources could be put to much better use IMO, building a bigger catalog instead of redoing the same albums over and over and over for what is 99% of the time very small improvements only people with really high end stuff can even decipher.

But what do I know lol. At the end of the day they’re making money and that’s what they really care about. There’s just a lot I would like to see get better treatment.
I don’t think it’s really baiting when they said they would be doing both 33 now and 45 later. They said it in the press release and the promo materials. I like having the choice vs only doing 45s for everything. MMJ did it as well. It’s an easy decision for me but I know others may not know which they prefer for now.

And I agree that the selections are more interesting with AS and TP series. The MoFi titles largely make it easy for me to pass. I think I got overwhelmed a bit with multiple releases every month from the TP/BN classic/AS series and there being too many titles to choose from. Sometimes I get a bit of analysis paralysis on those on titles I’m not super familiar with. Kind of feels like there are new title announcements before the titles in the last batch even are out. I’m super excited for the Karma reissue but couldn’t even remember if it had been announced already.

It’s a good time to be a vinyl listener right now since there’s constantly so much to listen to and choose from. It can also be a bit overwhelming. I have a bunch of albums I haven’t even opened or spun yet! Need to get on that before buying more. And there will obviously always be stuff we all want to get the audiophile reissue treatment. But like you said, it’s down to what will sell tons of copies. They will easily sell 40,000 copies of Thriller and I’m guessing they made that many because the licensing cost was exorbitant

This might be a good system check sampler.

I wonder how often people will use something like this after purchase?

Anticipating the upcoming Mofi Bitches Brew, dropped $30 on a near mint copy of this repress today.
Hopefully it's as NM as described.
I know it's not 2 eyes, but still should be a -1 cut.

Anyone have any comparison of the old BB pressings compared to the last Mofi?

Love my 40th anniversary box set. AAA pressing. Though at this point it probably is more expensive that a 1-Step
Yeah last time I A/B'd the cleaned up 40th remaster vs the Mofi 2LP I thought the 40th beat it. Now the 40th was streamed but the master is so much cleaner and clearer. Whether that changes the album too much from its original sound I don't know, but it sounded really good.

I got that one too last year, it was like $100 retail, but came with the CDs and all that cool bonus printed stuff. Pressed at United though some pressing roulette almost. Great sounding, night and day better than the standard version that's out there now, but I imagine the MoFi UD1S is gonna be an even bigger step up the sonic ladder.
