Definitive Audiophile pressings

Story time: As you all probably remember I was incredibly stoked for the release of Impex’s Kenny Dorham - Matador but upon receiving my copy I unfortunately had a scribble pencil scratch across parts of Side B which led to cyclical clicking sounds for minutes on end.

I then wrote into AS for a replacement but discovered they had none to offer and they offered a full refund if I would send the record back. I decided to try another option.

I reached out to Impex via IG explaining my situation and they apologized for the inconvenience and said they’d check to see if they had replacements left. They put me in contact with an employee here in LA and they took on helping get me a replacement. After a few months of touch and go communication with them a replacement finally arrived in the mail today. The rep I was in contact with gave me a heads up that she included something special in the package for me for being such a patient and pleasant customer. Check out what the surprise was below, I’m blown away by this experience with Impex. They’re class acts over there and make amazing products. Made my week.

Wow! That’s awesome. They seem like a great label.

Still bummed I missed out on Matador, though seems like they may be pressing more in the future. Seemed to sell out so fast!

She mentioned “I hope this copy is clean, if it isn’t you’ll have to wait for 8-10 months for the next batch”

Thankfully my copy was flawless but this pressing will be coming back.

Impex always pressed in batches it seems. Sinatra was the same way. I thought I missed it then it popped up a year or so after I backordered it. I’d backorder it if you can from Elusive Disc so you lock the price in and guarantee yourself a copy. It’s an excellent release

Amazing service! Great news that you got it all sorted as well!

I had a similar experience with BBE. I bought their "Takeo Moriyama - East Plants" direct from the website and after a few weeks hadn't heard anything so I emailed them. A week later and still nothing so I emailed again, etc. Got to the point where I decided to try them through their Instagram and it turned out they migrated their email but didn't update their website, so no one was getting my emails at all. To apologise they actually did send the record plus the Charles Mingus ‎– Jazz In Detroit / Strata Concert Gallery / 46 Selden 5LP box set as well which completely threw me off guard!

that's a pain, I pre-ordered mine from JPC and think they were shorted on stock so still on pre-order.

I pre-ordered it before it was released, guess I just missed the first batch. It still says “awaiting repress” from Elusive Disc which seems like a good sign.
As others have mentioned, Elusive Disc/Impex the “awaiting repress” status can take a long time, but it will be repressed. I waited a year for Monk’s Straight, No Chaser. The wait for Monk was well worth it, and it will be for Matador. Both are excellent.

I waited well over a year for the Sinatra repress but got it at the old price so it was worth it haha.

dammit. what's AS's preorder charging like? they charge when ordering or when shipping?
I believe they charge when it ships on preorders. But if you're ordering an in-stock item, the difference between ordering + shipping is maybe a day or two at best.

no, it's the impex stuff that's "pre-order". dorham, demiola/de lucia/mclaughlin, monk

the title that @Russ I posted about is in stock currently. thought you were asking about that one. i'd consider ordering the others from Elusive Disc since they are impex's main distributor and I have seen people get shorted buying them from AS. but i can't remember if they charge when you order or not on preorders.
