Definitive Audiophile pressings

Did they at least offer the choice of which barrel to bend you over?
Well, there are different barrels. Fedex doesn't charge brokerage and clearing fees on every level of service. Lower levels of service get those hits.

If the shipment value doesn't hit the customs threshold for duties/taxes, it can't have a brokerage fee.

I don't pay fees. I just ask the seller to mark the value as $25. Acoustic Sounds will do it, Elusive Disc will do it, Music Direct will not.

Result: I never order from Music Direct.

I hear you an all, but you are asking the seller to take a risk. If the items are damaged and they insured the package, they aren't going to recoup more than the declared value.

Fortunately, we don't have all this nonsense in the US.

So when you do this with AS, do you make the order on the phone or do you leave a note with the online purchase?

The seller isn't taking that risk, the buyer is. Risk in my experience is pretty low.

True, you don't have that nonsense in the US, just kids running around with AK-47's. I'll take the tax.
Until the buyer wants his money back. Seller is at risk, not the buyer.

Classic rhandmj, some interesting and useful information shared, but with a fundamental misconception (until a package is delivered, the seller, not the buyer, bears the risk of damage during transit) and a pointless political comment tossed in for good measure.
