Definitive Audiophile pressings

Did you ever get a 2003 KG cut of it? That one is the one to get IMO. I like it better than the MoFi.
But funny story, @marshall's local got a NM 79 Mofi in, and a KPG NM. The KPG being the more expensive of the two. I took the Mofi and @marshall took the KPG. He already had the Mofi, in fact I bought his and he put the money towards the KPG. So throughout all this someone did in fact come away with a copy of the KPG. I thought that would make your KPG lovin' heart go all a flutter.

I'm getting PTSD with all this talk of DSOTM KPG.

Alright, I have been nerding out comparing the newly reissued versions of The Kills No Wow. So they are doing two reissues one the of the original mix and another remixed by Tchad Blake…

…Initially I was intrigued by the remix as it brings Allison’s vocals a bit more upfront but where I first noticed a big difference musically was on the track “Dead Road 7” at the 0:43 second mark when they get to loudest most chaotic portion of the track, the new mix is a muddy hot mess compared to the original mix. It’s noticeably bad. Also, I prefer Jamie Hince’s backing vocals and they’ve all been almost completely removed on the Tchad Blake remix.

TL;DR:

I prefer the Original mix to the new Tchad Blake Remix.

I guess I'm not the only one regularly perusing RCJP and cycling stuff through my cart, but I've never placed an order. They seem to have the best reviews for grading accuracy. I purchased a copy of LZ IV from Face on ebay a few months ago, supposedly in EX condition, and it looked good in normal light but had a lot of micro scratches. Was quite a bit noisier than I expected for japanese vinyl + EX, but they did give me a pretty sizable partial refund. Discogs also said that particular pressing sounded great and it sounds like sh1t compared to the first US porky/pecko.

Disappointing and makes me hesitant to try again with RCJP even though there's a few Pink Floyd records I still need.

I have been happy with the all the grading from RCJP, though I am not dropping above $50USD on a purchase. My rule of thumb is if it VG+ and less than $15 I will take a chance. If above that, I will only pick it up if it is listed as EX and up

Ella grading is very very good for Japanese pressings. But the prices are higher than RC.
