Definitive Audiophile pressings

I actually didn't even know there was a third one
They are all a great value
I bought these on CD bc I wanted the booklets, which are informative and good. I decided that, for tracks/bands that I really like, I‘d buy individual albums on vinyl when available. It’s worked well so far, and I do think the info in the booklets adds value, although I’m sure all the info in them can be cobbled together w internet searches.
The BBE J Jazz comps are up for repress. If you were talking about the spiritual jazz comps, no clue if those will be repressed but they are all excellent!
That @Mather He's a lumberjack and he's ok! 😊
Went for a car wash and got uuhh "detoured" to the local...

@MikeH , these are the ones I was referring too...

@Portland Sheriff I had sort of the same "philosophy" but had a couple trades today they did straight up for the Vol3 Lp set

I have that J-Jazz Volume 3 set. It's actually the only one I have of these. Sounds pretty good.

You know how people say records sound so incredible, it’s like the band is in the room with you?

Well, I’m pretty sure that makes this one 100% pure, unadulterated nightmare fuel for at @Mather…

Here‘s hoping AP does the earlier albums, too — this sounds phenomenally good.

I am so excited to get this! However, for some reason, FedEx decided this route for my shipment: Kansas —> Connecticut —> Ohio —> TBD —> (Montana eventually).

Despite my abject horror at this notion... I'm glad it sounds great. I don't think I've ever been let down by an AP.

Ok what are the AMJY's?
Missed this. Here’s the AMJY series:

Was an AAA series done in Japan in 1992. They have jumped in price though but I have two now and they are really excellent. Really nice sleeves too. My zepp 3 has the spinning wheel and everything

Still highly recommend the IPA mix in with the US cleaning solutions. It's a game changer for the final pristine cleaning.

On another note-
I couldn't help myself with dipping my face in the Japanese Floyd punch bowl again.

These are all EX 1st pressings, except Meddle which is another VG+ wild card, but still 1st pressing. Life is short and this stuff is not getting any cheaper 🥃

Also sharing this handy dandy link for anyone else looking at the JP PF rubik's cube.

Do you put IPA in the Humminguru mix, or is it a different cleaner that you have?

I don't have the HG. I have another 132 kHz US.
But it goes directly in the tank with my mix.
I found out about it with the guys adding to the degritter on SH forum.

I use Tergitol and IPA combo. Tergitol goes in first and mixes and then the IPA.
Something about the alcohol keeping it from mixing if it is put in first.

Here is the formula for Degritter tank size.

WRT to amount of IPA; for a 1400 mL tank:

Using 99.9% IPA: (2.5%/0.999) = 2.5% = (0.025)(1400 mL) = 35 mL
Using 91% IPA: (2.5%/0.91) = 2.75% = (0.0275)(1400 mL) = 38 mL
Using 70% IPA: (2.5%/0.70) = 3.5%= (0.035)(1400 mL) = 49 mL

Nice!

Have not seen these yet.

Sure. But I couldn’t imagine being a musician that played on their albums. Seems like most of the time you’d have no clue if they would use your takes or not.
Oh i'm sure they weren't easy to work with per se, but I bet they knew what they were getting in to. Becker and Fagen were studio musicians themselves, and they were really only bringing in the top studio musicians they could. The list of people that appear on their albums is pretty strong.

They talk about this in the "Aja" doc on YT. Someone says something along the lines of "everyone wanted to be on a Steely Dan record" at the time but you knew they were bringing in several people for specific stuff. I think something like 9 or 10 guys laid down a track for the Peg solo, ending somewhere around 50 different complete takes. At least if they didn't make the cut they still got paid lol
