Plenty more non-standard classic rock and jazz. Amirite?New Vinyl Pressing Plant From MoFi and Music Direct to Open in California
The elite reissue label Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab and its parent company are purporting to open America’s “premier vinyl production facility”pitchfork.com
veryyyy interesting.
"The increased production capacity will enable MoFi to “issue records that aren’t just the standard classic rock and jazz for which we are known”
After listening to a US London and a DSD of Beggars Banquet, I have to give the nod to the US London. It's airier and has a better bottom end, with bass and drums that are defined and punchy. This doesn't, however, detract from the vocals and guitar, which have a very natural, electric sound. But my dad's old copy has some wear and surface noise, so I picked up a DSD recently, which is no slouch. It's well-balanced and is a little brighter/less murky (although aren't the Stones all about the murk?). The DSD just doesn't have as much air and punch, or that "electric" crackle for want of a better descriptor. What’s the better Beggars Banquet? ESS Japanese, DSD, or US London?
That begs the question, what is the coolest/hippest album ever done by MoFi?Did we know mofi did Sonic Youth's 'Goo? Because I sure as hell didnt. They need to keep going down that road.
Sonic Youth. That begs the question, what is the coolest/hippest album ever done by MoFi?

I have Dolittle and Surfer Rosa. They're obviously great but also probably fairly unnecessary. Much like Goo.yeah, they did that, some Anthrax, Judas Priest...I really want to listen to the Pixies ones also.
At today's retail, I am sure they are, but at $30 like they were?I have Dolittle and Surfer Rosa. They're obviously great but also probably fairly unnecessary. Much like Goo.
