Definitive Audiophile pressings

Does it sounds better than the US AB-1006 and AA-1006 pressings? If so... I might need to invest a fifth copy of this one...
No idea, and I have read that Aja is simply a wonderfully produced LP, of which most OGs sound awesome. But this 1980 reissue, particularly the title track, stunned me and I thought I'd share.

Seconded. I’m trying to get more into the Dead as my GF is really intrigued by the jam scene and it’d be something for us to share, it’s a great listen, specifically Uncle John’s Band and Casey Jones. Same experience on lack of promo materials too.
I had kind of a backwards way into the dead, but I listened to the Day of the Dead box set first. Lots of great Dead cover songs by modern artists and it was put together by the Dessner brothers. It’s really great. Then I dug into some studio albums and live albums. Definitely visit the Grateful Thread for recs too as others have said!

Do you have a link to the Discogs listing for it??
It’s this one. I initially thought “VIM“ was a typo that should have been “VMI” (acronym for Victor Musical Industries), but “VIM“ is correct and refers to the catalog number for this release, which is VIM-4039. Full link: Steely Dan - Aja
Thanks @Portland Sheriff , sorry I should have been more specific. The first six LPs were reissued in Japan in 1980, catalog numbers VIM4039 through 4044. In fact, there were several rounds of reissues in Japan, indicating the band was popular there, so it's not hard to find nice AAA copies.

Yesterday morning, I checked my account and saw that AS had cancelled my Reckoning order. I've yet to receive a refund via PayPal though. Has anyone else seen a refund?

Cancelling with neither notice nor an immediate refund - just one more example of the poor business practices of AS. I'm done with that company.

I paid via Paypal and noticed my pending charge that was on there had been removed for the fully cancelled order.

They don't charge you until/unless the item ships. Otherwise it's just a hold on your card that goes away.

Then they shouldn't allow you to order things they don't have in stock either, lol
haha true! i never use paypal on AS for this reason. I'm pretty shocked that their system is so outdated still. This has been happening since the pandemic started pretty much when more people learned about AS. It clearly wasn't built to handle massive traffic and quick orders. Any time something from AS is posted to reddit, I know there's a 99% chance I won't actually get it if I order it.

I've only successfully ordered from them once before, so glad to learn all this. The stupid thing is I paid for these with funds I had on PayPal, so curious to know how that'll be resolved. They still haven't cancelled it yet either. So not sure what the hold up is.

But this makes the last four orders I made on there get cancelled.

The bad experiences I have had are mostly for limited stock items that are popular from AS. They must have a weird system where it accepts orders but doesn't have accurate inventory. My guess is orders are received, then get sent to the warehouse and then they fulfill or cancel. I'm really hoping they fix it soon because it's awful. I doubt this was an issue for them in the past because I've only seen AS come up on places like Reddit in the past year or so causing rapid fire ordering that they can't seem to handle.

They can’t get this right but they can charge cogs prices on damaged titles they pressed and never sold! Chad has the green disease.
They're too busy playing discogs flipper instead of just running a large online record store. For a legit example, see Plaid Room, who profit through volume and efficiency, not by trying to squeeze every penny out of every single copy.
