I think it’s pretty clear that all of this is trivial to them. But I think it also is true that you did not have to contact them regarding this matter because they would eventually provide a refund, with or without contact. In my case, it irks me that they are sending the second item I ordered to reach free shipping, when I wouldn’t have ordered that record if not for the belief I also was getting the Sly Stone album. I’ve emailed and asked them to cancel everything since the Sly album already has been canceled (also without any notification of such). In a way, while I think it highly unlikely, their practices allow for speculation that they intentionally list desirable records that are not in stock, knowing that when they are ordered, people are also likely to add another item to their order to qualify for free shipping (which in this case would explain the lower price of the Sly Stone album—it had to be below the free-shipping threshold to require ordering of a second record). This second item would have to be listed as in stock to qualify, so this would guarantee their sale of that second record. If you think about the hundreds of people who place orders every time they fuck up as they have with these most recent Dead and Sly Stone listings, that’s a lot of records sold that otherwise wouldn’t have been.
Again, this is much too insidious for me to believe it’s possible, but the very fact they open the door to this kind of thinking is problematic. (And
@dansomeone, I’m not disagreeing with you, so I hope this doesn’t come across as if I am.)
