Definitive Audiophile pressings

I’m just not sure I need to worry about having every MoFi title of group “c” that interests me at this time because a better ADA is always a real possibility in the future. And, I definitely don’t like being tricked into buying a different product than I thought I was paying for.

Not sure how many years these preorders go out at current shipping rate but I am now sure about picking and choosing MoFi preorders more carefully from this point forward. And, I just called and canceled $1,500 worth of Mo-Fi preorders from MD. A MUCH more reasonable # still pending so I feel good. :)

FWIW MusicDirect Customer service was very professional about all the changes. Some orders canceled outright while others modified. I had the order #s / items laid out to keep it simple so we just went down the line. Everything updated on the web acct quickly and now shows correct.

"Anything else"
"No, not today"
"OK. Thanks for the call."

I haven't got Carnegie no. I'm honestly not like, a huge Neil fan. I've got the really good best of he put out. Up The Rust Bucket and now Massey and I think I'm probably good with those, kinda covers most of what I want from him I think. But I just can't get over how good this sounds. I'm sure Carnegie is unreal as well.
Let me tell you that the Royce Hall is a banger as well. :p

I enjoy his transparency. That's really all I'm asking from MOFI.

He said in the video that 2023 will make classic rock fans happy.

They were going through some Steely Dan, and woking on Rush artwork in that video. Some AP Rush would be awesome. Not to mention Jethro Tull, which we already knew about and is in their catalog inserts.

I think the next UHQRs are more or less confirmed as Bob Marley's Rastaman Vibration and Coltrane's Ballads.

who sells them as DSDs? or hi-res digital? qobuz?

Qobuz does hi res. Buying DSD is hard. The AP DSD stuff is for sale as downloads from AS. There is a DSD site that sells mostly classical, it’s the only place I’ve ever seen 256 DSD for sale commercially but equally pretty niche classical.

There are also the sites raising the jolly roger that are using file share services like nitro to distribute SACD rips, mainly MoFi/AP rips and from rips of SACDs that were done for the Japanese market where the format always has more traction. Obviously searching and using such things isn’t broadcast or encouraged for forum legal reasons, but it exists.

Edit: also I forgot, PS Audio have gone into DSD in a big way. They’ve set up a studio and label, Octave Records, that records solely in DSD. They sell the DSD files, SACDs and vinyl cut from the DSD on their website. Obviously we’re talking very small acts at this stage.

They really should just do away with the "Mastered From The Original Analog Master Tapes" verbiage all together. Based on their logic anything not originally recorded to digital would be mastered from analog tapes. lol

They are already two copies away by the time they cut the lacquer on this one. Not really what I would define as mastering from original tapes. I will say I am soooo ready for this topic to die.

the master tapes are still kinda the source on these, even if they are transferred to DSD. they do still seem to go the distance to confirm when the tape they are transferring from is the original, or if it's not.

we just need new spars codes...

i'm ready for this topic to die too. it's all so boring now hah. for the most part, if a record sounds good to me on my system, i don't entirely care whether it's digital or analogue source.
