So I have discovered the LEAK Stereo 130 and am considering adding it to my contender list for the new year. I like the aesthetic and have watched a couple of reviews. I also like that there is a matching CD player as I believe mine is on the way out. Anyone familiar with the new LEAK as opposed to the original?

It’s not the old company. There’s no link beyond the.name. It’s another branch of IAG who own Quad and Wharfdale amongst others. If it’s the same as the others in their stable they will be designed in the U.K. and built in China. We were talking about them about a month back, these are really new to the market and there doesn’t appear to any reviews knocking around yet.

I watched an Andrew Robinson review earlier and he did talk about the connection with Quad. I’ll keep looking for more info.

I agree with you that aestheticaly it's quite pleasing but beyond that I don't know.

I’m really trying hard to avoid getting something in black while also not sacrificing quality.

What about silver? A lot of good integrated amps are offered in a silver finish.

Yeah he basically says the vintage look doesn't match the sound so it's anything but warm and lush but rather lean and forward of neutral.

Yes, that’s what I’m going for. Until 5 years ago, any of the equipment that I’ve owned has been black and if I see anymore, I’ll throw up

Yeah I always buy silver gear where possible. The two power amps are off black but given they’re a matte finish, look very retro and have the glowing tubes I can live with it!

That review seemed to fair a bit better after break in and finding the right speakers.
