Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I’m using a two channel interface to record my vinyl straight from the Sutherland phono. It occurs to me that I could just leave it on the shelf but the arrangement would be such that I would like to leave it on a switcher. I.e. phono to switch to interface or preamp.

is there a minimum quality level of switcher I need? Any recommendations?

I'm not sure you need a switch in this case. My first thought is to use Y cables to connect the Sutherland, preamp, and interface. Switches are usually needed if you have multiple sources, not multiple destinations.

I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong :)

Wasn't sure if the split needed some sort of isolation to keep from affecting sound quality, but I definitely don't need a high powered switcher, just line level if at all.

Schiit SYS.

Anyone up here in Canada have any experience with Fluxion Audio? I know Fluxion has a great reputation on Canuck Audio Mart, and I’m contemplating this amp as a relatively inexpensive but seemingly quality foray into tube amplification. Just hoping to get the lowdown if anyone has had dealings.

It’s only 14 Watts per channel. Also, note that the tubes are not included. 300B tubes aren’t inexpensive.

I had priced out the tube complement. Comes in at about $1000 CAD, which totalled up is still pretty inexpensive for a tube amp up here barring something like the Muzishare X7 or the Wilsenton R8, and the general advice for those seems to be toss all the included tubes immediately and replace. The 14 watts per channel is a point of concern and something I’d have to figure out. Fuzzy on the math behind necessary amplifier power.

I’d be more than happy if anyone has any suggestions for an introductory tube amp to look into that’s cost/quality efficient.

1. Microline stylus. Long wearing, low surface and groove noise. Sounds great. Easy setup.
Late to the party, but wanted to chime in about the microline lifespan. I haven't been able to spin as frequently over the past year, but I have to say my Mastertracker is still running strong. I'm probably about to jinx it, but I keep waiting for it to show signs of aging, and it just keeps going and going. If it ever runs out I think I'll satisfy my Hana ML curiosity, but for now I'm still loving it

What speakers do you have?

Currently running Focal Aria 906 standmounts. They’re rated pretty efficiently—89 db, I think—but dip down low on the impedance curve, which to my admittedly vague understanding is where the problems mating them to an amp are.

I definitely would not use a 14 watt per channel amp with those.

The Musishare amp would be a much safer bet. I’d only buy it from Amazon though for buyer protection. You can save some money buying from China directly, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk.
