I’m looking at headphones for my main setup (so not portable and no separate headphone amp/dac). The output will be an integrated amp with output of: 50mW + 50mW through fully discrete amplifier circuits, @ 1 kHz, 32Ω, 0.2% THD. It also has a trim function/knob that adjusts gain through headphone circuit by either –6dB, 0dB, +6dB, or +12dB
I’m concerned this power won’t be enough to drive many headphones — for example headphones with 300 ohm impedance — but this is a technical/math area that I don’t really understand. I see some people online suggesting 300ohm headphones need more power than what my integrated can put out, while others say it’s perfectly fine for headphones with that spec.
