Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

So thousands of dollars.
I have probably spent more on cables than @Mather so I’d probably be a “better” target.

Anyway, Mather’s point regarding the casing stands. To further it, I find all the recent press coverage of Lamborghini themed turntables, or Ferrari branded whatever to be just as silly as this 103 “special”. I guess there’s a collector appeal, but performance wise it seems like a misuse of budget. You can get a 103 cart with a better body, stylus, and/or cantilever for similar money that has a better chance of improving or changing performance than a transparent plastic casing.

i wonder if my music hall PA2.2 can do MC cartridges good enough... the hana el asks for more than 400 load impedance and the MC side of it have only 100 ohm.. that and the fact that it only does 0.4mV and hana needs 0.5mV

otherwise I think when I upgrade (whether rega, musichall, mofi, etc depends on my future.. i need a job) I might just stay on moving magnet (maybe getting a bronze or something)
I ran a Hana SL at 128 Ohms and it sounded beautiful. FWIW.

The shell is questionable for sure but the coils are probably where they put some special touches in.

Wouldn’t be as fun if it was all factual.

There is a line of thought that impedance matching of low impedance MC coils really only changes the output level, not the frequency response. In most cases, there has to be some nominal input impedance, say 100 ohms, to damp Mhz level resonances but that specific impedance is not critical.

There was an article in Stereophile about this a few months ago. Still, some audiophiles will vigorously dispute that, which is their right to do so.
