No it has RCA load jack inputs for custom loading separate from cartridge inputs. But I'm unfamiliar with how you accomplish get those types of RCA jacks
Pretty sure the musical fidelity lx-lps came with little RCA loading jacks like that if I’m not misunderstanding what you’re talking about…not sure where to buy them but do they not come with the MoFi?

Yea I'm not sure if they come with them. I downloaded the instruction manual out of curiosity and it talks about using them for a custom loading but then in the section for what's in the box, it is only the phono and ac cord listed. I didn't see anything about the jacks included. The language they use would make me think they were though.

Yea, I get the concept and purpose and I downloaded the manual and it's like yup you can do this. But.....how??? 🤔

There’s a musical fidelity unit that does something similar. You buy these RCA plugs that attach to there and change the capacitive loading. Neither company really advertises the actual RCA plugs or how to buy them but I have heard rumours that they sell them direct if you make enquiries…

Alright, question regarding a buddies kit. He has KEF R5s but is still running a Onkyo 8020 amp. Looking to upgrade to something with more juice. I suggested NAD 3050 so he can keep costs down but still get a great amp with double the power of the Onkyo.. Does anyone have anything they think would be better suited in that same price range? I also suggested the Kinki but it's more expensive by a fair bit up here. I think the 3050 checks off most of the boxes the only thing I think I'd ideally want with those speakers is maybe a bit more power. But with the situational wattage up the 135 it's probably got it covered. He wants to stay new, so no used stuff...

I looked at the 3050 for my office and couldn't pull the trigger. Didn't like that it only had one input and the buttons didn't feel that great. Probably not a deal breaker for most. It's definitely a fine sounding amp though.

Maybe go the Yamaha route? S801 or the S1200 are fine pieces of gear with lots of features.

I didn’t like the lack of inputs either. I have an external DAC, phono stage and SACD player and couldn’t even hook those all up I don’t think

Left field option, what about an Odyssey Cyclops? Stout amplifier, and very good sounding, and Klaus makes things to last.

The C399 is the next step up the NAD line with more power.

Good call, I passed it along. I'd like to see him get that extra power but he does not have large amounts of disposable income so I suspect he's going to want to stick to the cheaper 3050. But I like this 399 idea...

Looking for amps for my buddy actually has me considering a stop gap measure for myself until I can really shell out for a proper end game 2 channel amp, debating grabbing a power amp to pair with my current rig just to give the L100s a nice clean amount of power. I currently only feed them 110 watts and they want something close to 200. Power amp can get me to 350 quite easily without breaking the bank, I think it would provide a good sound boost without much outlay and would allow me to be a bit more patient on getting an endgame piece.

NAD C298 for your consideration

“With both channels driven and clipping defined as when the THD+noise in the output reaches 1%, the C 298 clipped at 275W into 8 ohms (24.4dBW, fig.5) and at 510W into 4 ohms (fig.6, 24.1dBW). … The C 298 is one of the lowest-distortion amplifiers I have measured, rivaling the less powerful Benchmark AHB2 that KR reviewed in November 2015.”

Haha yep it's pretty much between that model and the Arcam PA240 which I can get dealer pricing on. 380 into 4 ohms.

Did you say separates?

Haha well here's the thing, it's a single separate to go with my current AVR. So it's the only way I could do separates. But the plan isn't to use an AVR as my main amp long term. But that's when I run out of room, having the AVR and a pre and a power won't fit. So yes. It will work in this smaller configuration short term.
I'm thinking you're going to like the sound change.
AVR has been holding you back based on my experience when I've used one.

I'm very curious to hear the difference, but I have to say I do think you'd be surprised by the sound this Arcam puts out. I mean I've heard all the very pricey systems at the audio shows and it's right there with a lot of them. It honestly punches above it's weight. But I think the power amp would do a lot for the speakers for sure.

Yeah that's a tricky scenario.
Hearing first hand in your room and system should be a lot more truthful.
