Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

a 3K vacation was removed from my schedule and refunded so looks like i now have the money for a 1-2K turntable... i dunno what would make a major upgrade for my turntable.. my U-Turn works really well except for speed switching and i like the sound of my cartridge.. i mostly wanna just get more of the thump and the detail and the sound... i know people say the MoFi but how good is that was an OOB experience, especially since the ultratracker is just a redo of another cartridge from what i know (i could go for a even better cartridge but it is hard to do things like VTA and azimuth and all that stuff). but i also could go to my local (45 minute) hifi shop and get a rega but the switching through removing the platter is seemingly frustrating...

Wait for the Denon 3000NE or the 1200GR2 to drop under 2k?

I'm not sure a TT upgrade will provide you with the added thump you're looking for. What kind of amp and speakers and cart are you currently using?

mostly just using the preamp one of the users here gave me (the Musichall PA2.2) and its headphone output... i could buy new headphones instead like an audeze or something just for vinyl. i cant really use speakers because parents are in the way with their stuff.. im also mostly just looking to upgrade next because i have had that uturn for a long time and i finally have a lot of income

Invest in some killer headphones. Big ol Planars.

my hifi shop has some audeze they sell.. i'll probably enjoy them.. but i heard they need like EQ or something to help or they hurt to wear (hence while i'll probably also keep my sennheisers)...

other than that is it a little overkill to use a 1K headphone for a 400 dollar turntable... its really an upgrade i do wanna make

That's a solid phono stage/headphone amp, yeah I tend to agree here, get some kick ass headphones and maybe a new cart (what cart are you using?).

No harm in investing in a set of headphones that will last through all your future upgrade cycles. Speakers/headphones are the second most important part of the chain, IMO.

$1600. Not a bad deal...

I upgraded to this from a UTurn and found it a big improvement. Now I upgraded a few things in short order, so mileage may vary, but if you have $2k, I’d definitely recommend the Technics as an upgrade.
