Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Paying for that brand name. But honestly I always think 60% of the original retail price is fair for well cared for used gear with original packaging. Comes in even less off retail when you factor in the buyer payed taxes and potentially shipping.

That falls just below that standard, so I think it's a fair point to start the negotiations.
That's probably a good guideline for the big names like McIntosh.
I think you can do better with some other brands. I know I did on my Rogue components.

It's all situational.
This preamp has been up since Oct and it's saying a recent price drop.

Is anyone familiar with the LTA z40+ integrated amp?

I'm very curious as I read more about this one. Not sure if it would be a good fit in my system, but they have my attention.

I’ve never heard their gear, but after I moved I found out LTA was in my town, Takoma Park, MD. Lived in and around there for 20+ years. Soon after that I found out Black Ice Audio was up the road in Brookville, MD. I had no idea Maryland was such an audio equipment hot spot.

I’m definitely interested in gear from both companies. Maybe that’ll be my next stop when I get out of my PS Audio phase.

If I was out that way I would absolutely see if they’d be willing to host for a day trip.

Luckily LTA is coming to my neck of the woods for an audio show next month. Not an ideal demo space, but at least it’ll give me a rough idea and I can chat with them a little

Speedwoofer arrived today! hooked it up in one part of my room and it had some terrible humming if I turned the volume up at all. Unplugged it, moved it elsewhere and set up the transmitter again and works perfectly now.

Anybody have tips for placement or just trial and error? Will definitely take me some time to fine tune the levels and things. And mess with crossover frequency
