Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Speedwoofer arrived today! hooked it up in one part of my room and it had some terrible humming if I turned the volume up at all. Unplugged it, moved it elsewhere and set up the transmitter again and works perfectly now.

Anybody have tips for placement or just trial and error? Will definitely take me some time to fine tune the levels and things. And mess with crossover frequency
Placement tip: add another Speedwoofer.

I have one in the front of my room and the other diagonal from it in the back of the room. The bass is nice and even throughout the room.

When I got my REL the instructions said to do the sub crawl, or if you can’t due to space/cabling, behind the right speaker.
Interesting. Wonder why right speaker? I can place it behind the left speaker easily…(to my left when sitting and facing the speakers).

Did you do the sub crawl??

Maybe the particular speaker doesn’t matter, it’s been 3 years since I set it up so maybe my memory is playing tricks on me and if I go for a stereo pair there will be once behind each…

No I didn’t, my sub isn’t wireless and I don’t want cable runs across the room. Plus the size of the apartment meant behind the speaker was the most unobtrusive place.

Yea mine is wireless but there are really only 3 places I can put it. I guess I can try it in all 3 spots and see which sounds best.

It’s definitely bigger than I thought so looking forward to my wife’s reaction later 😂😂

I got the 10S and it’s rather petite. I could almost sneak a third one into the room.
I probably should have done that 😂

not sure how big the 10s is, but the 10s mkII is about 15"x15"x15" and about twice the size of the last subwoofer i had (which was just a generic sony subwoofer from a 5.1 system).

New Zu speakers, a pair for $1400 looks like?

Bought Yamamoto YR-02 headshell wires to replace the stock ones that came with my Yamamoto HS3 headshell (for practical reasons, no sound quality chase here).

Can’t recommend this at all. $60 or so imported and the connectors do not stay “crimped” and eventually fell off from being fatigued after like four attempts to get it to stay. Feel like an asshole if I try to exchange it on eBay as it’s not the sellers fault, so money down the drain.

Keep in mind I was coming from an SVS PC-12 Plus that was a velvet-lined cylinder 15” in diameter and four feet tall.

Means something different in Glasgow. Done it a couple of times (with extra steps!) - great fun.
I tried this when I was younger on the Circle Line in London. I remember getting about halfway around before things became a blur (from memory, it's something like 31 stops...)
