got Stick Of Truth and Fractured But Whole on sale for Switch a week or so ago. just finished Stick Of Truth and holy shit, what a wild game... can't wait to see what FbW is all about now
I don't typically replay games but I have went back to each of these multiple times. Loved the combat and they nailed the visuals/humor. Hope they get to finish the trilogy.
I’ve seen a lot of people think certain things are cheating, but it’s an open world game and there’s countless ways to play. They wouldn’t allow you to use items in certain scenarios if it was too easy. I think that’s what makes it so much fun. Different ways that different players approach different situations and bosses.Well, after nearly a week, several outfit/equipment changes, much extra level grinding and weapon upgrades, Malenia, Blade of Miquella fell to the power of a rock sling. Now on to the endgame!
I heard that some of the Elden Ring community considers sorcery and spirit ashes to be "cheating" in the game, but she was still one of the most difficult bosses I'd ever fought in a video game. Not that I fight bosses in real life, though.
Totally agree. I've had so much fun playing this game, and am kind of sad that I'm entering the endgame. For someone of my patience level, playing as a magic-focused (with occasional melee for fun) user allowed it to be just difficult enough. I understood her move set enough to eventually defeat her; also there seemed to be a bit of random luck. I'm not the type of player whose muscle memory is so great that I can melee a boss like that wearing a jar on his head (which is a pretty entertaining video to watch, if you look up the player who does exactly that.)I’ve seen a lot of people think certain things are cheating, but it’s an open world game and there’s countless ways to play. I was going to ask if you have seen that impressive video. I haven't gotten to her yet. Interested to see how frustrating it is for me. As a sorcerer who can only get through boss fights by completely avoiding damage, I can tell ya sorcery is not easy mode.Well, after nearly a week, several outfit/equipment changes, much extra level grinding and weapon upgrades, Malenia, Blade of Miquella fell to the power of a rock sling. Projectors rule.Just finished downloading this morning. Unfortunately/fortunately I use a projector so I must wait til nightfall to begin my quest. Any beginner tips?
Agreed, it’s been the best set up for my living room. I hate the idea of having a black piece of glass sitting on my wall all day long, really jumbles up the vibe of my living space. I definitely need to save up for a better projector though, the one I have is very good for the price I paid but it could definitely be brighter/sharper. The blacks need to be blacker lolProjectors rule.
That is all.
Yep I hear ya. Same reason I got mine. 106" screen in the living room and it's just a nice white screen when it's not on.Agreed, it’s been the best set up for my living room. Considering that I have felt sort of over leveled once I cleared all of Limgrave, without farming for runes, but trying to clear every area/dungeon, and some bosses that many people say took forever haven't been too bad, maybe sword (uchigatana/nagakiba) and board (100phys great shield) is easy mode? Have basically only put points in Vig, End, and Str.As a sorcerer who can only get through boss fights by completely avoiding damage, I can tell ya sorcery is not easy mode.
I focused on sorcery for the first half of the game, then I found that adding a bit of melee (via Moonveil) is pretty fun, as well. So I mainly use sorcery, but occasionally pull out the sword. I felt pretty accomplished when I killed a late game boss with the sword.Considering that I have felt sort of over leveled once I cleared all of Limgrave, without farming for runes, but trying to clear every area/dungeon, and some bosses that many people say took forever haven't been too bad, maybe sword (uchigatana/nagakiba) and board (100phys great shield) is easy mode? I would really like to try a sorcerer or at least faith build to see how it differs but am having a hard time totally switching up what has been working for me. Maybe on a next playthrough if I can get motivated to do it again soon.
I have played pretty hardlined on the Confessor, using Incantations and Swords. Usually using the Sword of Night and Flame and Moonveil interchangeably. However, like midway through the game I discovered the value of Sorcery especially for spells that hone in on targets. That is extremely clutch at clearing areas pretty quickly and doesn't use a lot of MP. However, I don't really like having to always have the staff in my hand. I suppose Incantations are easier since you can have them with something else in the other hand.I focused on sorcery for the first half of the game, then I found that adding a bit of melee (via Moonveil) is pretty fun, as well. I just beat Margitt yesterday which felt great, I’m also level 40 or so and even though I hit really hard the margin for error on boss fights is still TINY. It took me at least a dozen tries to kill the Bloodhound Knight because they still hit that hard. Really interesting balance to the game, you can hit like a truck and still be steamrolled by a boss if you make the wrong move. This is the most fun I’ve had in a game since beating Ghosts of Tsushima on hard, the Samurai duels in that game were so fast paced and tense that one mistake or missed parry meant certain death! Highly recommend for anyone enjoying Elden RinyDecided to go through the castle since I was already there, and I have successfully felled Godrick the Grafted. Another really fun fight imho, both with and without the npc summon. I didn't even see the summon mark the first 3 attempts. I summoned to see if it made a difference with the second phase, but I had back to back fights with and without summon where I died with Godrick at less than 1/4 health. I noticed I get a bit greedy when the npc pulls aggro on the boss, and ended up taking some really stupid hits. I was again a bit over levelled for the fight (41), but he was still dealing a good amount of damage to me. I also kept the NPC alive, and it was cool to see her at the Round Table afterwards. Like Margit, most of the damage I took in this fight felt entirely like it was my fault. Question for all here, has anyone used Godrick's Axe? Need to get my dex up a lot and my str up 2 or 3 points, but wondering if its worth looking into replacing my rusty boat anchor.
While I was in the castle, I initially went through the back end way, but made the grave mistake of activating the grace right by the front gates without realizing. That area was super easy coming from the top of the castle, but a nightmare from the gate. Unfortunately, I died to the lion miniboss (another cool fight). Yeah, I could have warped back up, but I also had just shy of a level's worth of runes and wasn't sure if I could get back to them if I warped.
I second the Ghost of Tsushima recommendation, that game could be very brutal at times, but the combat was very satisfying. I struggled a bit with Bloodhound Knight as well, I think I died more in that fight than I did with Margit and Godrick!I just beat Margitt yesterday which felt great, I’m also level 40 or so and even though I hit really hard the margin for error on boss fights is still TINY. I’m a confessor build rn with high strength and faith, I looted a Scythe in the wailing peninsula that I’m leveling up to wield!
Sounds a lot like Sekiro to me, if that sounds fun to you check it out if you haven't. For some reason I never finished it, need to pick it up again.the Samurai duels in that game were so fast paced and tense that one mistake or missed parry meant certain death!
Just as an update, cleared Malenia last night. I think it took about 10 tries. Definitely would have been way longer without my mimic, so I kinda get where people are coming from on that, but this game is taking me long enough on a first playthrough to not want to seek out increasing difficulty.I was going to ask if you have seen that impressive video.
