Made it to the very last boss in Elden Ring. The first phase is not that tough, the second phase….. it’s tricky. I think I need to find some holy damage negation talismans because I don’t have any. This one looks a doozy.
It took me quite a while with that second phase. I relied a lot on my spirit ash, since I was more magic focused, and would just hit it with rock sling and some stars spell. Just had to watch for that 4x sword slash that shoots out holy magic.

Now I'm just finishing off a few side quests, finding items that I missed, leveling up a bunch, then I'll respec and at least play a little in NG+.

Side note, I just saw an article that said how many total runes it takes to get to the max level of 713: 1,692,566,842 runes.

That may take more time than I'm willing to give.

I'm currently level 185 (I think). I hadn't needed to do the cheat level up in the underground below Caelid in a while until I was struggling with Malenia. I was going at her with the Moonveil and Swarm of Flies but it wasn't doing enough damage. I had to cheat level up to use Morgott's Cursed Sword which has a Bleed Special attack. After that it was easy.

For the final fight I've been using Mimic Tear which has been more successful than Black Knife Tiche. The only downside is my Mimic Tear will end up with like 1/4 health left once I get into the fight with Elden Beast. If I am able to use Black Knife Tiche, I'll get into the final fight with it having 1/2 health. However, the Mimic Tear is more of a tank so it's easier, but the Black Knife Tiche leaves me open too much and the center of attention. I have only gotten to Elden Beast with the Black Knife Tiche once. I basically want every boss to use the summons as a tank so I can just pelt them with incantations and special attacks.

I was ready to take a break when I finished but started up NG+ to get my last trophy, which was to get to Roundtable Hold, since I had switched from PS4 to PS5 after that. So, I decided to try out dual wielding great swords and basically run straight to Margit. Considering that was the boss I died to the most due to being very rusty and a bit under leveled, felt great to just stomp him in like 10 hits. Destroyed the Tree Sentinel on the way, 😂. I was lvl 184 and all I really did was try to clear all dungeons. Only time I farmed souls was to upgrade new weapons to try out near the end. Still clearly way overleved for normal start of NG+ I guess.

Okay so I beat the Elden Beast. Took me about 25 tries, give or take.

My second attempt of this evening I managed to kill it with my regular skills/build, however I died as it died so it didn’t count. I then proceeded to fail a bunch of times before finding someone mention using Meteorite of Astel with a mixed physick that gives you unlimited FP on the Elden Beast. Doing that immediately after spawning behind him got him down to about half.

Basically this but nowhere close to as much damage.

Black Knife Tiche is the real MVP with their slash move that just sucks health over time. Basically just avoiding attacks while Black Knife Tiche is close enough to hit them and help out where I could. Rock Sling was also helpful because it travels a decent distance when Elden Beast is so far away.

However, after all that, I got to the end didn’t really think about it and immediately Summoned Ranni. I didn’t rest at the site of Grace, didn’t really walk around the end area and just went through the cut scene and the game was over. I didn’t know that was going to happen. So now I can’t get back into that area via the boss fight or fast travel because I missed the Grace. It feels like I didn’t even finish the game after all of that. I was expecting to be sat on the throne! 😩

After some googling, it seems the only way I can get back again for a different ending is doing a New Game+. Has anyone done a NG+? I definitely don’t want to put another 100+ hours into the game but I wouldn’t mind playing again if it too only like 10-15 to go direct to the bosses and major events in the story.

If you aren't excited about NG+ I don't know if I'd play all the way through again just for those <30s endings. Unless you want trophies/achievements.

If you're near as over leveled as I was I'm sure you could go through much faster if you want, just not sure how long it would take to the end since I haven't gone farther than Margit, which took me like 10-15min including the tutorial area and messing around along the way. If you do want to see all of them or get the achievements I would recommend backing up your save at that grace you missed before triggering an ending and reloading to get another if you don't want to do another run through.

I think I'm going to start NG+ soon. I've like at level 225, and I'm mainly curious about going through the main gate of Stormveil (the one that you get warned about the first time through.)

Yeah…. I may try it out and see what happens but I could easily see myself dropping it after a few hours. When I was searching online about how to get back into that space, it seems a lot of people were complaining about NG+ not being different at all compared to other games with NG+ which might have new bosses or gear. You’re basically just playing the game over again.

Jumped into Dark Souls: Remastered after finishing Elden Ring and have been enjoying it. After getting decent at Elden Ring, the combat hasn't been too bad. Still feels good though, not particularly dated even right after ER. Never played it much past the first boss when I originally picked it up for some reason.

Having a hard time getting used to the slower, less forgiving roll and how difficult it is to consistently execute a jump attack, which Elden Ring trained me to want to do a lot. Definitely an improvement to be able to control jump the way you can in ER instead of perfect timing of pushing forward. Also not being able to sneak and having to attack at the perfect location right before an enemy turns around to get a backstab is terrifying.

Was surprised by how easy it was to upgrade my weapon to +5 as soon as weapon upgrades are available. Smashed the second boss in a few hits 🤣.

I’ve never played any Dark Souls games before Elden Ring so I was planning on getting this at some point to try it out!

I’ve never been able to really get into Dark Souls. I’ve tried DS: Remastered and DS 3 and just get to a point where I lose interest and give up. I’ve started DS 3 more times than I can remember and always stop around the same place.

Bloodborne on the other hand is one of my favorite games of all time. I’ve sunk well over 100 hours into it and have done multiple play throughs. Not sure what it is about DS that has kept me at arms length.

Demon Souls and Bloodborne are the only From games I had completed, both not too long after they released and enjoyed them both. Especially Bloodborne. I think only went through it once and never played the DLC so I'll have to play it again.

Got through most of Sekiro and got really stuck on a boss and just forgot to pick it up again.

Not sure why I never played any actual Dark Souls games. I'll try to make it through this one. Would like to play the Demon Souls remaster but considering it is just a beautiful version of essentially the same old one, would prefer to pick it up cheap.

Oh man, if you enjoyed Bloodborne you gotta check out the DLC. A couple of the best bosses are in it and the new areas are super unique and interesting.

I had the same experience with Sekiro. Got real far but never made it past a tough boss.

Maybe I’ll try Dark Souls again after I finish Elden Ring. It may finally click with me.

Anyone else playing Tunic via Steam?

I'm having issues where I can't save my game progress.

After playing it for 6 hours when first getting it when I went to stop the game in Steam so I could reboot Steam told me that any unsaved game progress would be lost. So I googled how to save and found there is no save option, but rather the game has a really good auto save. Visiting a fox statue is one sure fire way to make sure the game is saved.

So I did that, then stopped the game. The next time I launched the game and went to continue my current game I found that I couldn't. The screen just went blank and then brought me back to the main menu every time I tried to continue my game. I was forced start a new game.

The same thing then happened again.

I have given up on playin the game now until I figure out whats up. Anyone ever have issues like this before with games / Steam?

Did you try validating the integrity/files? I find this is one step to fix game issues when they won’t launch/load/save etc.
