Just letting everyone know that I did just platinum Sekiro, and yes I’m okay (mostly)
I tried playing that game after Elden Ring + Dark Souls 1, 2, & 3 and I didn't do well. Only played for like 3 hours and couldn't take the heat. It's ridiculously unforgiving and I realized I wasn't having fun playing it.

I don’t blame you, but if you ever feel up to it, I highly recommend giving it another go. It’s very different from other souls games as I’m sure you already know. I say that though only having played Elden Ring before Sekiro, so I’m mostly going off that.

For me, once it clicked how important deflecting is and how not useful dodging is (most of the time), I was having so much fun. Certain bosses were extremely annoying at first, but almost all of them felt so fun once I figured out their movesets (another super important thing I had to realize). There are two bosses though that I am fully okay with never trying again. One of them there’s a notorious cheese method though, so on my NG runs I did that just to get the extra attack power. The other one isn’t cheeseable, but both of these that I’m talking about are optional unless you’re going for trophies.

The game turned from me not having fun into probably in my top 10 games I’ve ever played. The feeling of finally understanding certain bosses was pure elation. When I finally popped the last trophy for Elden Ring, I was kinda happy to be done with it. With Sekiro, I wanted to do another run just to see how much quicker and better it went.

I also very much appreciate not having to worry about a whole ass build, those options kinda overwhelmed me in Elden Ring and is a big reason I haven’t tried the other souls games. But I know a lot of people prefer having those builds.

I think the problem for me with Sekiro is that you HAVE TO play it a certain way to be good at it and succeed. With other Dark Souls games there’s usually a couple of other ways to face enemies that you can take. Different weapons, spells, shield, archery, other kinds of cheeses, all kinds of dodging, etc. You cant do that here. I was also kind of over Souls games when I started playing it so I should probably give it another go eventually.

Yeah, totally valid. I was going to say that maybe I’m just the type of player that doesn’t like a ton of options presented to me, but my favorite game by a pretty wide margin is BoTW so I don’t think that’s a valid statement lmao.

I hope you give it another go though, it’s extremely rewarding albeit frustrating. Definitely don’t push it though if it really starts getting under your skin of course. Or at least, put it down for a bit. I had to do that a couple of times lol

Speaking of GTA, has anyone played GTA: The Definitive Edition? I’m thinking of picking it up because I haven’t really played any of the older GTA games. They came out when I was like 10-15 and my parents were really strict with the rated M games. I played San Andreas and Vice City a couple of times over friends houses but that’s it. GTA V was my first full GTA experience.

I see that they were buggy but now maybe not as much? Has anyone played them on console and can attest for how they play?

If you were on the fence about Xbox Series X, maybe $349 will sway you

Anyone else experience issues with Game Pass quests/rewards recently? I couldn't finish out the weekly and therefore monthy reward for my first month of participating due to my last daily "achievement in a Game Pass game" not registering. (I earned no less than 6 achievements across three games trying to get it to work.)

Seeing lots of complaints that Microsoft is basically self-sabotaging rewards through stifling and neglect.

I've literally never redeemed any rewards except for those random "enter to win a thing" sweepstake that I know I'll never win. I don't check to see how many I have unless I happen to log into Xbox on my PC. Have you redeemed anything for tangible prizes?

I picked this up last BF for super cheap and I still haven’t played it, but I would imagine any glitches that were around at launch have been fixed. Maybe I’ll finally get around to playing it this week.

No, this is my first month participating as a new Xbox user. As recent as several months ago people were still touting the rewards program as a viable way to earn monthly Game Pass Ultimate for free basically, but in the last few months point values have declined significantly or aren't registering when earned in my case. Not a great first impression.
